Vincent and Elizabeth were sitting at the table, the impressive table view highlights showing the goal that put Omega Prime into the Omega Cup finals was being replayed over and over again. No one could accuse Mary Lou Cole of not knowing how to run a gala.
Nicole and Magenta were dancing on the dance floor. They were obviously enjoying themselves. This was the time of celebration. Omega Prime had scored to defeat the Talosians. This was an expected outcome but in sports the unexpected is what often happens. For many humans, particularly those who love the game, this was a time of relief and not of victory.
Vincent smiled as Christine and Cole walked over to the table. He was happy to see them together. Christine pulled out a PADD recorder.
Vincent looked that Romulan hybrid a bit perturbed, "I am not working here, Ms. T'Nley."
"Commodore, would you not say that this was an indulgence that you not only wanted but projected to show your and your human dominance over the colonists?", Christine asked firmly.
"What?", Vincent responded.
"So you are not denying that this was an opportunity, particularly with the Klingons just arriving to remind everyone that there is a pecking order on the colony?", Christine snapped.
"What are you saying? Of course not.", Vincent looked upset.
"The mainly human city wins a mainly human game. Doesn't that look a little fixed?", Christine swung the PADD recorder back and forth.
"Of course not. No city was forced to play. Wells City is a mainly human city and did not have a team.", Vincent stood up.
"You as tournament organizer had the opportunity to create an inclusionary spectacle but instead like the Berlin Olympics of 1944 or the Moscow Olympics boycotted by your USA on Earth, you have used this as a display of human superiority. It worked Commodore. We are all humbled. Go Omega Prime!", Christine mocked.
"I resent the implication to these terrible regimes. There is no comparison between these totalitarian states and the Phoenix Colony. Far be it for me to point the Romulan totalitarian history, my dear.", Vincent glared at Christine. The pair worked together on ONN's Phaser Phlurry.
"This is a celebration, Ms. T'Nley. You and Mr. Porter should enjoy the pleasures of the colony. This is what the tournament was about.", Vincent smiled, putting his hand in Elizabeth's.
"Perfect. We have a lot to celebrate don't we. Our human oppressors are in the finals of the tournament they created, in the game they created. Our military commander is flaunting an adulterous affair in the celebrations. Our civilian leader is living a life of over indulgence flaunting her decadence for all to see rubbing her hand on the buttocks of her mate. Our governor is no where to be found. Tabrine Mandu is a joke. There is a lot to celebrate in the world of human self indulgence.", Christine turned and walked away.
