As the Omega News Network continued to focus on the Pilgrims and Lydia Sanderson creating an image of the Pilgrims as believers with a passion to touch the sands of the universe, the pilgrims continued their path of civil disobedience interrupting the operation of the Omega Sands Processing Plant. The marines have thus far been very careful. Major General Ferdinand Fidelis and his men and women have been well behaved.
Lydia Sanderson has literally begged to be allowed to be in the Omega Sands. The sands have been unstable because of the amount of processing. It simply is not safe. Bill Clinton himself, the main foreman of the plant even brought some out. It served to placate the pilgrims for a while but then only served to advance their ferver. The pilgrims wanted to be in the sands.
Vincent stood with Christine as the Pilgrims rushed the fence once more. Vincent knew what she wanted. She wanted the marines to fire on the pilgrims. She would have a story that would be carried all the way to the Federation. Vincent knew what it would mean.
Vincent met with Ferdinand, "Major General, you have the authority to use what force is necessary."
Christine rushed for her console. She was getting the story out as fast as the words were spoken.
Vincent glared at the Romulan-Vulcan hybrid. The Commodore shook his head.
Several Pilgrims broke the line and headed for the Sands. Fidelis looked at Viceroy and then frowned as the marine brought them down with phaser's rifles. The images were broadcast throughout the known worlds of the Phoenix Federation making front page news and HUD displays all the way at New Terra and within the worlds of the United Federation of Planets all the way to Paris and to Earth.
Vincent headed back to the city. Only supper with Bobbi-Lee and little Nicole would free him of the image.
