Seeing Dr. Magenta Coren-Branson, a scientist of some reknown as Director of the Yang Liwei Institute ~ the foremost viral research facility perhaps in the universe, sitting there in the candlelight vigil was hard for Vincent to follow. Worse yet, to see Governor's Station flooded with the sick and the crippled as people flocked to the "Sands of the Universe".
Vincent wanted to just have Colonel Brown disperse the crowds but he knew that he could not. He was under pressure from outside with the Phoenix Trade Federation and the United Federation of Planets wanting the Phoenix Colony to continue to meet its Dilithium delivery targets and now under pressure from within with Bill Clinton literally shouting at him about the pilgrims interfering with his staff and with production.
Vincent travelled back to Omega Prime. He was startled to see Commander T'tan in the Federation Complex. With the trouble on New Terra and the problems surrounding the government of S'Task, T'tan's Vulcan Villa had been cut off from the independent Vulcan Republic. T'tan looked at Vincent, "What if you look at this logically?"
"Look at what?", Vincent sternly replied.
"The Omega Sands as some sort of healing source.", T'tan responded.
"Do you believe in miracles, Commodore?", T'tan asked.
"I do.", Vincent responded, thinking of Nicole and thinking of his saved relationship with Bobbi-Lee.
"There are no miracles, Commodore. There are only scientific events that occur at an accelerated rate.", T'tan walked over to the clear glass board and took out a green marker. She began writing chemical equations for the Omega Sands.
"There are no health improving properties of these sands. The question becomes, 'What does Lydia Sanderson have to gain?'", T'tan explained.
"For once, I agree with my Vulcan friend.", Commander T'Ros walked into the Federation complex. The Romulan and the Vulcan glared at each other.
Commander T'Ros tossed a PADD onto the table. Vincent picked it up, "The Vidians??"
T'Ros looked at T'tan, "The Vidiians were searching for Dilithium when they were infected by the Phage. The Vidiians may be infected but their depleted Dilithium resources continue to be their primary focus. The Vidiians heard of the legendary Omega Sands, the "quote-unquote" unlimited Dilithium source and hatched this plot. A Vidiian would be altered to look human and travel to Earth to recruit people to see the miracle. The colonist would block the production of Dilithium until the Vidiians could arrive to take the Dilithium and the colony."
"How do you know this?", T'tan ordered.
"Lydia Sanderson is actually Lydes Erson, a Vidiian Captain. Erson once attacked a Romulan Vessel. A bitter fight ensued and Erson was wounded. Her DNA was captured and catalogued. When she applied to the colony, we check all DNA.", T'Ros responded.
"Wait, those files are sealed.", Vincent snapped.
"Not to us.", T'Ros glared at the Commodore.
Vincent looked at T'Ros, "What next?"
"Oh, it gets worse, Viceroy. The USS Plymouth was no miracle; no Mayflower searching for a new land. It was a resource vessel bringing 1.2 million organ donors for the Vidiians to the Phoenix Colony. Killing two birds with one stone.", T'Ros explained.
"Very logical.", T'tan observed.
"Logical, my ass. This is insane!", Vincent shouted.
"When will the Vidiians arrive?", Vincent looked at his source, Commander T'Ros.
"Within days.", T'Ros responded.
"Give the information to ONN.", Vincent ordered.
"I will not.", T'Ros responded, "This is Romulan Intelligence."
"It is the only way. The word must get out. No one will believe us. They will believe T'Nley.", Vincent snapped.
T'Ros placed a data crystal on the PADDs and then entered the crystal into the ONN port. Christine T'Nley would have the scoop.
T'Ros shook her head.
Vincent looked at T'Ros, "Thank you."
T'Ros turned back, "No matter what you think of me, think of us, it is my colony too."
T'tan looked at Vincent, "The Villa will support any military action, Commodore. I will inform Governor Coren."
"Thank you, Commander.", Vincent smiled.
