Eugenio was all smiles as he stood with Magenta and Nicole. He was about to make the announcement that they all wanted to see. Eugenio wanted to make a statement about his control when he opted for the Relationship for Procreation Edict. He really thought that he had the colony's best interests at heart by encouraging more reproduction being so far from the core of the United Federation of Planets or because of the small population base of the Phoenix Federation. More population is better.
Eugenio took Elizabeth by the hand. Elizabeth pulled away, "Wait."
Elizabeth asked Magenta to come up on the stage with her. Magenta was reluctant. Nicole encouraged her to go. It was Magenta's saving of her mother that brought all this about. She should get some of the credit. Magenta slowly went up on stage with her mother. Elizabeth held Magenta's hand. Magenta actually felt a warmth from her mother. It was something that she rarely felt from the cold matriarch of the House of Coren.
The ladies looked at Eugenio. The Governor began, "It is with a great honor and respect for my daughter, Dr. Magenta Coren-Branson, respect for Phoenix Federation Vice President Nicole Branson, my daughter in law."
His words brought clapping from Indigo Coren and bunch of students. Christine T'Nley held up a recording device to allow Governor Coren's message to get out on ONN.
"The respect is given to Commodore Tan, Commanding Officer of the orbiting protector, Governor's Station and his lovely Operations Chief Commander Summer Vasa. This honor is shared with Bill Clinton, working feverishly tonight to provide Dilithium to our colleagues in the Phoenix Fleet and our trading partners in the United Federation of Planets and his lovely wife Commander Elora Vasa. These people have shown me the error of my ways. It is with this respect that the Phoenix Colony repeal the Relationship for Procreation Edict and announce that the colony will honor any relationship bound in the basis of our own true goal, to allow for a love and friendship between one and all, between all of us.", Eugenio raised his glass.
The Commune was suddenly jumping with hoots and hollers. Acrylos was standing near the bar when Laaker came into the Commune. The Bajoran Public Works Foreman suckered his brother driving him over the bar spilling drinks and everything.
Vincent came running over. He grabbed Laaker, "What the hell?"
Laaker looked Vincent, "He slept with my wife."
Vincent looked at Acrylos laying behind the bar. Acrylos shrugged. The truth was out there now. Vincent looked at Laaker, "You have had your own shot. Anymore and you guys will be busted out of here. Let me buy you a drink?"
Laaker looked at Acrylos, "You are a a son of a b**ch!"
Acrylos stood up, "Laaker, she is a wonderous lady. What do you do? Go out to the Villa and spend time with T'tan. You are a fool."
Laaker plowed him again. Acrylos went down behind the bar. Vincent grabbed the Bajoran, "Ok, now you are out of here."
The commodore shoved the Bajoran for the door. Laaker looked at Acrylos, climbing up from the floor, "At least, T'tan understands me. I cannot have some clingy little Bajoran pawning me when I get home. I need my space. I need my freedom."
Vincent shoved Laaker out the door. Laaker left for the Villa. Acrylos ordered a Bajoran tea. Vincent walked up to the bar and ordered two whiskeys from Earth. He handed one to the Bajoran Master Builder. Vincent had been there. Hell, he slept with Elizabeth Coren. He looked at Acrylos, "You are gonna need something stronger if you are gonna play in someone else's backyard."
Acrylos smiled, tipping back the whiskey, "Thank you, Commodore."
Eugenio was sitting at the table with Nicole. He was getting a little tipsy. He looked at his daughter in law, "I am still trying get my head around this. You don't use any tools..."
"No. It is the whole reason for moving away from the male gender.", Nicole laughed. She hated it when Eugenio went into this conversation.
"And Magenta does not mind.", Eugenio asked.
Magenta walked up to the table, "You will never get it, father and I would appreciate it if you two did not talk about me behind my back."
Nicole smiled and stood up. Magenta looked at her father, "Let's just say that she is a lot like you, father."
"How so?", Eugenio looked up.
"She can do amazing things with her tongue.", Magenta winked owing to her father's grand speech.
