The Death of Apollo Empty
PostSubject: The Death of Apollo   The Death of Apollo EmptySun Mar 20, 2011 7:02 am

There is one great truth in the oral history of mankind. In the end, man gets too big for himself and abandons his gods. Commodore Vermont Viceroy was on the bridge of the USS Apollo in high orbit around the colony when he felt the horrifying blast of four devastating torpedoes hit the side of the now legendary Apollo.

Vermont screamed for an update but it was not the update he wanted. Jenerica reported immediately that the warp core had been breached and that the Apollo was losing structural integrity. Monty knew that he had failed the great god. He knew that it was over.

Monty contacted Governor's immediately to announce that the crew of the USS Apollo would be abandoning the great god. Summer promptly announced that the colony would get to test the gift from the Federation. The shuttle fleet was immediately dispatched to retrieve the pods.

The colony has lost vessels before. The devastating loss of the original Princess Diana still haunts the colony. The horrifying destruction of Terok Beta and the tragic loss of Cardassian lives is still part of the colony lore but losing the symbol of the Phoenix Federation future was a tragedy.

Nicole came to Governor's to meet with Commodore Vincent Viceroy. Nicole and Vincent shed some silent tears as they watched the futuristic Apollo burning in the sky above the colony.

Commander T'tan arrived from the surface to begin the investigation. Was this another Retarnee attack like has occurred in the Klingon and Romulan empires over the past year or was this something else? Was this a Federation attempt to ensure that Phoenix Colony engineering staff would not be able to take advantage of the technology of 2450? Was this a Section 31 attempt to maintain the status quo in the region?

There is a lot to be discovered. The Vulcan's split from Tokken of the Togre had restored her ability to think logically. She was determined to explain the loss to the colony. Summer Vasa offered everything on the Station to the office of the Judge Advocate General.

Commander Veronica Viceroy was the first interview. The Executive Officer of the Apollo has yet to provide any more information that could already be observed from the Station.

Vincent grew more and more furious with how slow the information was coming in. The entire colony needs to know what the hell went on out there.
