After a very unsavoury picture of Dessa Leo was posted to the Academy, Nicole Branson's original training as a service clerk or civil officer in the Omega Fleet kicked in. Admiral Tim Veltkamp had always taught her that there must be a home for all.
Nicole lectured the student body about prejudice and the progenitor theory for the dominat species. She first began with humanity and discussed the relevance around a chimpanzee. She warned the students that she was about to start jumping around the room and throwing feces at them. It drew great laughter but it also illustrated the very foundation of the culture. Evolution is constant improvement.
Nicole than acknowledged the heroic rescue of the colonists at Medara by Admiral Sonjac Naar'Haaj. The Sonjac Hammer is a big part of Starfleet lore now. The Tellarite is a hero and revered for his effort throughout the Federation. Nicole then warned the student body that he was about to begin wallowing in the dirt and looking for truffles. Once again the obvious reverence to pigs of Earth was designed to be absurd and the student's chuckled at the thought of a war hero behaving in this way. Nicole used the grand speech to illuminate just how stupid the use of prejudice against student Aphrodite Leo.
Nicole then proceeded to show the Methipidae of Earth. The rodent know as the skunk is often used to ridicule the Caitian race which bares similar markings on their cat like features. The use of images which show the race as stinky or able to spray from its torso is untrue and fundamentally racist. Branson, fresh off a wonderful morning with her family and her student guest was visceral in her attack on the shared image.
Nicole ended with the foundation that has been life in the colonies since the original Omega Planet. There has to be a home for all.
