A big part of student governance is the "Mock Election"; for many it is their first opportunity to feel what it is to be an adult. It is how the students learn both the benefits and perils of elected someone to represent your views in the larger and infinitely more complex "big picture".
The Omega Academy has been blessed some very good student leaders, Commander D'Tall is the Executive Officer of the USS Illustrious, Captain S'Nii has currently been posted back to the Phoenix Colony working on the Viral Research Center and now Cinnamon Leo has pulled off one of the most difficult things in these tough clamped down times, she has started a mock election.
Her plan was to simulate an election of William Hunt vs. the Vulcan V'Ros for the President of the Federation. Her project included the selection of Admiral Tim Veltkamp as a Vice Presidential Candidate and the selection of Vice Admiral Nicole Branson as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, effectively the Head of Star Fleet. The image of the Triumvirate leadership began to appear on pictures at the Academy. The images were soon spreading throughout the colony and other schools quickly jumped on board.
The Vulcan Academy in the Villa was soon running a similar election and Commander T'tan herself was posting poll results on the subspace network. Even ONN was taking up the idea and covering the Mock Election crediting Cinnamon Leo with the idea and the approach.
Hearing of the Mock Election in the Phoenix Federation, Star Fleet Academy on Earth in San Francisco picked up on the idea and began to run their own simulated election. The candidates were the same, the Vulcan V'Ros and the Renegade Admiral William Hunt.
The campaign became more than just a Cinnamon Leo project, it became a monsterous campaign including shows by student bands, a big part of the student experience including classic Earth protest songs. The events spread like wildfire and the Republic Government was beginning to feel the heat.
President V'Ros, dropping the "Elect" title has begun to threaten to quash the mock elections including the words, "I will decide when there is a damn election. I will decide."
In the most famous democracy in the known universe, the words reviberated like a rock in the water. The ripples could be felt everywhere.
In the Jake Anderson Parkway, on the Phoenix Colony, Star Date 64240, William Hunt is elected as President of the United Federation of Planets. As Cinnamon Leo read the results, the cheers were overwhelming. People were jumping up and down and chanting and screaming. The events were incredible to watch and unbelievable repeated throughout many schools on the colony and moreso throughout many worlds in the Phoenix Federation and in the United Federation of Planets.
It was absolutely remarkable. The students were in absolute frenzy. Vincent knew it was time to disperse them. He went out to speak, but no one heard him. The crowd, cheering and screaming simply overwhelmed them.
Vincent turned to Captain Robert E. Leo to ask him to use the Police Service to break up the crowd. Robert looked at Vincent, "I will not. She is family."
Nicole suddenly showed up. She walked out and seeing the spiritual leader of the Phoenix Colony the students went into an absolute frenzy screaming, "Nikki!! Nikki!!"
For Nicole, it was a very special moment. She raised her hands but no one stopped yelling. Nicole then did the unthinkable. She reached beneath the platform and pulled up Dr. Orchid Coren, believed by the students and citizens of the Phoenix Federation to be dead, killed by the Federation.
Orchid then pulled up the lost children, Trista Branson and Brenna Montgomery. People believed the children had been killed. They were like Phoenix itself, risen from the ashes.
The crowd went crazy.
