Thua'ra was feeling lonely sitting on the bridge in the counsellor's chair next to Vash and Tania. He thought about Marino and the ejection from his quarters. He thought about his own feelings. He thought about Anora. He thought about Bajoran comfort women and the occupation. He felt as though his link to Marino was because of that misbehaviour. If he learned anything from the humans; life is a balance ~ do unto others as you would done to you.
Thua'ra went down to engineering after his shift. Marino looked over, "What do you want?"
Thua'ra looked at the floor, "It is 2395, why can't you just use Branson Beauty to perform gender reassignment? The surgeries are incredible. The Nanites reorganize the cellular structure at the molecular level. You would be for all intents and purposes female."
Marino continued to work with the equipment. Keeping a nearly 60 year old rust bucket afloat was no easy chore. Marino looked at Varno, "I will change how I dress in private and even occasionally off shift. I however am proud of this uniform and of the rebellion for which it stands. My father was most proud of me when I stood up for what was important. I will not change that. As for gender, I am my father's son. No one will change that."
"I have even heard it said that our same sex congress is unhealthy and even dangerous.", Varno grasped at straws.
"We were careful with cleanliness, lubrication and discomfort. You took good care of me.", Marino responded.
Varno looked at Marino, "Why do you have to make this difficult?"
"I am Bajoran.... And you are Cardassian.", Marino chuckled, owing to the long history between these races.
