Thua'ra Varno appeared on ONN in a single camera looking at the viewer. He looked straight into the camera and in front of everyone removed the gold bars of Legate of the Third Order.
My name is Thua'ra Varno and I have sinned against the Prophets. In an effort to cleanse my soul and before the Emmissary and the honor of Lo Aeron, I am here to announce that I have betrayed my loyalty to the Hebetian Government of Minister Elim Garak.
I have used my position to garner the favor of the Obsidian Order and used those loyal to the old order to arrange for the death of Clarissa Laree. Though I did not commit this attrocity, I was responsible and I beg the forgiveness of her father, Admiral Alexander Laree and of Nicole Branson, the Phoenix Colony, and its citizenry.
I formally obsolve myself of my rank and will accept any rank placed upon me by my people. I obsolve my colleagues of this incident. They acted on my authority and are not responsible for any actions. They are innocent.
I am guilty.
No words can express my deep sorrow and pain in this feeling of betrayal. I am a colonist and nothing more. To be judged by you all is to be judged by my peers, my colleagues and my friends.
