The systems are now being brought back on line. Most of the systems developed by then Mayor Jake Anderson were operated using Star Fleet Issue Battery systems. The planet however has an outstanding geo-thermal core which can be capitalized on as an energy source.
With the construction packages applied by Rear Admiral Nicole Branson, including the impressive Pavel Chekov Dorms, the battery system became too unreliable to safely manage the Academy before the bi-weekly return of the supply ships, either the USS Hercules from the King's Fleet or the USS / CGV Tanmesad from Omega Fleet proper. The geo-thermal core as discovered by our glorious Fleet Admiral Tim Veltkamp when the planet was first selected for colonization is now providing 100% of the power and heat used in the Academy and the infrastructure of the city.
The colony is now looking beyond the city infrastructure to the countryside as the call for suburbs for the townees begins. With the influx of students for the second course round begins, calls for homes for parents, friends and colleagues of the students has begun. Transferance of energy to the bedroom communities becomes the next project for infrastructure.
I have now begun to set up the Engineering Department at Outpost 294 as a cooperative program with Academy studies. The interface controls have been designed to mere the operation of star ship warp core and warp nacelles, even though they are actually running an electrical turbine and a geo-thermal energy plant. This way students can facilitate their understanding of warp engines and warp theory but at the same time keep the city, its infrastructure and all activities running smoothly. Two birds with one stone.
Also my contact with Kai Avlor aboard the USS / CGV Tanmesad has allowed me to establish plans to bring a Bajoran Monastery to Omega Prime. This will require "free energy" as a non-profit organization as the colony continues to expand.
I would like to thank Rear Admiral Nicole Branson whose requests made to the Omega Fleet for the equipment necessary to operate a geo-thermal energy source were not only met on schedule but were put in place for my arrival making the transition from "ship builder" in the Sigma Division, to "Engineer" aboard the Tanmesad to "Public Works Commissioner" here very smooth.
I am pleased to report. All Systems are on-line.
