Elizabeth looked at Louis, "Look, we have been here for hours. What exactly would it take to get Kiera Tanus and Nebaska Todd back?"
Louis paused and sipped from the chalice of blood wine. It had become a good time to be a Klingon. The bloody attack on the Tyranny had allowed for the Klingons to gain control of Covenant Energy and the orbiting station now referred to as peD cha'paj or Snow Dilithium Corporation. He still had the Yot Medara as part of his deal with the House of Kabarann to appease the the house of neroQ for now. He was mulling over his next sentence.
Suddenly, Tanus of Gorn burst into the conference room in the orbital trade offices. He and several Gorn members of the Dragons came in and slammed his fists down on the table, "Listen you ridge head hybrid, if you don't give my daughter back, I gonna run my Gorn claw up your ass and pull your spine out and dangle you upside down!"
Christine had been covering the hearings for RBC. She had just about fallen asleep as Elizabeth and Louis reminisced about Loiza and Dr. Lasiter Lau forming a basis for negotiations. The conversation were so boring talking about coffee, children, Eugenio and Illyan. Christine was suddenly perked to attention. This was about to get a whole lot more interesting.
"The King's Fleet does not have enough marines to even threaten the Klingon Border Patrol, Major and frankly your threats are little more than a mosquito buzzing around an ear. Very annoying but the potency just is not there.", the Klingon now known as King Louis for his aspirations to be chancellor snapped back.
Tanus looked at him, "You have no idea what a man desperate to get his daughter back might do."
Louis looked at Tanus, "Return the planet to Klingon control and leave and you can have Kiera Tanus and Nebaska Todd. That is my offer."
Tanus turned around and started pacing. Carleton Porter came into the room. This was the first appearance by the former Federation ambassador to Klingon who had been selected by Hon'Tihl Kabarann to follow Governor T'tan into the Governor's Chair. It was his first time to show off. The handsome Antican simply sat down and did not speak.
"Perfect, lap dog. You sit. Let the adults speak.", Louis taunted.
"You made one mistake, Colonel neroQ.", Carleton looked at the Klingon-Trill hybrid.
"I have made no mistakes. Look around you. This building was built by your illustrious Colonel Teero but today peD cha-paj is under Klingon control. You have your job because we, the Klingons were able to force a change in government. We control the colony. We manipulate the tiny fleet. We have put the fear back in our enemies with the eviscerating of Lady Tyran. We have done what the Romulans did around Medara. We are restored as a superpower and I and the house of neroQ did that. ", Louis raised his glass. Several Klingons in his entourage also raised their glasses.
"Lady Tyran. I am glad you brought that up. It is your one mistake.", Carleton explained.
Christine was now leaning forward in her chair. She was watching as the PADD converted the words to text. She was feverishly adding her own commentary as the words blasted onto the network.
"You see, Colonel neroQ, a Klingon should understand as much as any great power about the importance of powerful families and lineage.", Carleton looked at neroQ.
"Be careful, lap dog. Know your place.", Louis snapped.
"Lady Tyran was from a powerful family. Her death was seen as a big problem in the Gorn Hegemony. There were two reasons. One, her own lineage and Two, her goal was to bring Major Tanus back into the Gorn fold. Though she had been unsuccessful in her second goal, she had made the Major into a friend of the Hegemony once more.", Carleton spoke softly as an ambassador but commanded the room perfect. The Antican was very smooth.
"You are correct, Colonel or Louis. Can I call you Louis.", Carleton mocked, "Major Tanus and his King's Fleet Marine Unit are not a threat. But the Gorn Hegemony, and you have seen the Tyranny, the new Heavy Gunship Class, is. I will leave it up to you to decide if this child, Kiera Tanus and her first officer, Scott Todd is so important you want to risk being the Klingon House that helped bring down the empire.", Carleton stood up and started to walk towards the door.
Louis was about to say something when Carleton put his finger to his lips, "Shhhh! one mistake!!"
The whole room erupted in clapping.
