Phannell and Thua'ra enjoyed a Kanar in the corridor watching as Sam and Gowan walked in together to Admiral Deveniss's peace conference. Phannell looked at Varno, "Disgusting!"
Varno hated that Sam was with his former girl as well. He however could hardly call her disgusting. Varno looked over and saw Ro Anora enter the conference on behalf of the Bajoran Republic. He had not seen the woman who had brought him out of the darkness in a very long time. It had been a long time since sharing meals in the evenings aboard Platform 1968 or her dealings with his darkness in Boston on the Phoenix Colony. Anora was as beautiful as ever.
Thua'ra finally built up the courage to say hello. Anora embarrassed Thua'ra by revealing the murder of T'Ken at the table. Varno was deeply hurt. He had committed the act. He was guilty. He was the same monster that had served in the Obsidian Order during the occupation of Bajor.
Thua'ra stood alone later in the evening as Anora came over. He frowned not really interested in being reminded of the monster within once more. She instead asked about his personal life. Varno teased about Varen V'Ros and Beatrice Bose. Anora laughed at his choices and at his losing Beatrice to Vash. Varno frowned, "And none of them will compare to you."
Anora was deeply flattered and put her hand on Thua'ra's. He forced a tiny smile.
Deveniss enjoyed the announcement of the Hebetian Democratic Institutions being restored and the Klingon expansion of the Ice Dilithium Trade. He was enjoying the successes. Gowan Garak was standing near the bar when a young Cardassian came running up with a sword. Varno distinctly heard Phannell say the word 'now'.
Varno had been inspired by the touch of Ro Anora. He could have been the head of the Order once more had he let the attack play out. He owed the universe a life for the life of T'Ken. He crushed the running youth with a devastating forearm leaving him laying on the floor next to the newly abdicated Empress turned Prime Minister Gowan Garak. She looked at him. Sam looked at him. Anora looked at him. In the silence, as King's Fleet security arrived, Sam looked at Thua'ra, "Thank you, friend."
Thua'ra slowly extended his hand, "Take care of her."
Anora walked over, "And you can take care of me."
Thua'ra smiled and followed the Bajoran.
Deveniss and Monica helped the enlisted staff clean up the promenade. Monica disappeared upstairs hoping to get a chance to stop at Ishka's spa. She hoped Deveniss would stop by.
The Admiral has been trying to rebuild his life after the failure of the Snake Pit and worse yet his failure to be accepted by the marines in his Military Assault Command Operations approach. He has lost his reputation as Chief of Staff. The conference has helped rebuild his honour once more.
Deveniss went up the spa. He had hoped to say thank you and good night to Monica before retiring for the evening. He walked into the beautiful spa created by Zek Ishka on the cha'paj. He looked around to find his Monica. He called out, "Monica."
"Over here.", Monica taunted.
Deveniss turned around to see the former head of Starfleet Command bent over waiting for him.
"It's time to celebrate your success, Dev.", Monica teased.
"Why are you doing this?", Deveniss asked.
"I heard that Saehir was back. I want to remind you who you are with.", Monica slowly lowered her bikin bottoms.
"I know. Saehir is with Peter Warren. I am with you.", Deveniss smiled.
"Then get over here and show me.", Monica ordered.
Today was truly a great day for Admiral Deveniss and for peace.
