Orchid was standing on the stoop of their suburban home in Little Lakaria. She was looking up at the incredible two sun sky. The very beauty of the sky hid the fact that everything had changed. No one knew what to do. No one knew what would happen next.
Orchid saw Nicole walking up the sidewalk. She looked over at the Vice Admiral, "What are we going to do?"
Nicole smiled, "We are going to have a nice supper. We are going to have a good night's rest and then we are going to go back to work."
"At the Liwei Center?", Dr. Coren responded.
"Why not?", Nicole looked puzzled.
"Where are light years from home?", Orchid snapped back.
Nicole giggled, "You are standing on the steps of your home, Doc."
Orchid turned and looked out. The city was not changed, the landscape was changed a bit but the River Covington still glistened in the sunlight.
Orchid turned and picked up Trista and headed quickly for the house.
"Where are you going?", Nicole asked.
"I have to get up early for work. Do you think you mom will watch Trista and Brenna?", Orchid was back to work. This is what everyone needs to do.
Get back to work.
Nicole went upstairs after the girls were asleep to find Orchid sleeping on the bed. She looked at her beloved and wondered how things could have been different. She thought of the horror of the Romulan Occupation and thought of Federation ships barreling down on her cities.
She sat down on the end of the bed. Orchid sat up and started to rub her shoulders.
"I would have been honored to die with you, Nikki.", Orchid smiled.
"I would rather do this.", Nicole smiled.
"Do what?", Orchid cooed.
"Take a ride through the stars...", Nicole pushed Orchid to the bed.
