"No matter what, she is still a Romulan.", Harper sniped at Tan after Tan proposed adding Saehir Marrus to the Ambassadors group.
"And you are still a criminal.", Tan lashed back at Harper knowing that he had just recently been released from prison for his involvement in the intelligence scandal that had hurt both of their careers.
"The Romulans destroyed the embassy. Twice before Saehir Marrus has betrayed the King's a Fleet to the Romulans.", Harper sniped.
"And on multiple occasions Starfleet Command has betrayed the regional fleets to whatever enemy is convenient at the time.", Ambassador V'Larii joined the conversation.
"You are a racist and a traitor. You have no say here.", Harper glared at the Vulcan.
"I am an elitist and an isolationist. This is far from racist. I don't see the other races as unacceptable, I only see them as inferior. I don't want to see them eliminated, only to keep Vulcan existence separate from theirs.", V'Larii showed the arrogance of her mentor.
"The purist movement is a failure, Ambassador. The Vulcan Command sees the need for interaction even here in the colonies.", Tan looked at V'Larii.
"To the matter at hand, the selection of Ambassador Marrus to our committee.", Tan looked at the group.
"I vote no.", Commodore Madison responded.
"Unfortunately I too vote no.", General Larle of Klingon looked at Tan, "There is just too much at stake right now to a Romulan on the board."
"I vote yes.", Tan announced.
"Of course you would. You are f**king her.", V'Larii sounded so petty for a Vulcan. Her tone was almost distasteful.
"I vote yes. Saehir may have made mistakes but she is a hero. She flew the Branson Bisect. There would be no Romulus without her and for that matter, no Vulcan.", Jaskalla, the Tellarite joined the conference room session.
The vote comes down to V'Larii. The eyes of the room were upon her. The words of Ambassador Naar'Haaj touched her deeply. This is a fact. The devastation of the loss of Vulcan and Romulus destroyed two empires when the two realities met. The use of the IRW Princess Diana and the horror of trying to bisect two merging temporal existences took tremendous skill. Saehir Marrus is a Romulan and betrayal is almost at the core of their existence. The Tal Shiar would rival Section 31 for the deviousness of their interference.
Ambassador V'Larii is the wayward daughter of Admiral V'Roi who helped restore Vulcan honour in Starfleet and had to overcome the similarities between his name and that of the Fascist V'Ros who imposed the Empire of Vulcan onto the Alpha Quadrant. She and her sister had been farmed out to the King's Fleet to help them through their rebellious years. Her sister had parishes learning those lessons. V'Larii was taught by Click and Tracer how to be a fighter pilot and to use her wayward spirit as a motivator. She owed these men everything.
These thoughts haunted her logical weighing of the decision. She looked at Commodore Madison. He had been in Starfleet Tactical when her father decided to farm her out. Harper had told her father that the struggles of V'Larii to find her way could hurt his position. Harper had helped her father decide to ship her out to the sticks.
V'Larii turned to Admiral Tan, "In diversity, there is a better opportunity to devise the truth. A Romulan would give us another view of the region and could provide for the logical review of any activities. I vote yes."
The vote showed clear movement away from the failing purist movement and showed her logical growth as a Vulcan.
Saehir Marrus walked into the room dressed in school girl like innocence. She clasped her hands together as a human praying, "I promise to behave."
Harper was not amused with her mocking pose and walked out of the room.
