It was supposed to be a celebration. A same sex couple was aboard Federation One. It should have been a time of empowerment glory. This was a time that could rival the election of Barrack Obama on Earth, the first African American President of the United States. The truth is more heinous that some grand civil rights victory.
The movement began with blaming the United Federation of Planetsfor the destruction of the the Andorian Gateway. Even though Section 31 had tried to remind the leadership of the Federation that Andorians tried to discredit the Federation and the King's Fleet by destroying their own station, the truth hardly has the legs of a good lie.
Lead by rabble rousing Andorian Colonel turned upwardly mobile Starfleet Admiral, the lie indicated that the Betazoid Alliance had conspired to help the House of Larle take the Klingon Empire from General Lupac Kabarann and the Betazoid Alliance had conspired to commit the terrorist act upon the Andorian Gateway.
President Alexander Laree had tried to bring the Senate back in order but he was vilified for his Betazoid Alliance history. The Alliance refused to rejoin the Federation after the rise of the Vulcan V'Ros. They stood alone and proud as the Phoenix Federation hazard one when the fascist Vulcan supremacist tried to hold everyone down. Alexander was a hero. They should have bowed at his feet but instead they listened to that lie. They allowed it to gain momentum and Lanec Trmel to flow to the top of Starfleet.
Lanec trumpeted the greatness of the Andorian people. He spoke glowingly of the Klingon Invasion as symbol of what his people could offer the Federation. He offered up Pasha Trmelto lead the Federation. He called her lifestyle choice evidence that an Andorian led Federation could bring back the real values of exploration and inclusion that the Federation had seemingly forgotten.
Vincent looked at Toni, "You know this is a house of cards. Illyan andAlexander may be guilty of a lot of things but inciting terrorism is not one of them. You can't abandon us for this. The truth will come out."
"Admiral Lanec Trmel is a great man who will lead the Federation into 2400. We have a chance to be a part of greatness.", Toni put her hands on Vincent's.
"He is the brother of Gareb Trmel. He sided with the Klingons. He is a terrorist who killed his own people for this political move. This is not greatness.", Vincent snapped.
"He has already announced that the withdrawal of support for the regional fleet authority.", Monday stepped forward.
"Like I would believe a Betazoid.", Toni snapped at Monday.
Toni turned and walked away.
Monday clasped her mouth. Vincent put his arms around her, "We will figure this out."
