Patrick was devastated when the pilot Thecceril Kimosann showed up in his Xindi Insectoid body, complete with the chain collar that he was brought to the colony in. Thecceril looked at Patrick and told him that he was grateful for the time that he had lived as the angelic humanoid but he missed the visual acuity of his Xindi eyes and the skills that his reflexes offered as a pilot. Thecceril told Patrick that if he could not love him this way he could not love him. Patrick was a vain drag queen. He was devastated but walked away from the Alien. Prejudice is still real in 2395.
Starfleet, under Admiral Lanec Trmel has been trying to subvert the King's Fleet from within by hurting the leadership of the fleet. Agent Caitlin Wu has reported to Admiral Viceroy that agents have been approached to go after Monday Coren to hurt the Admiral.
Nicolas Stone of the Caitian crime family has been a fixture in Zek's bars and casinos. He has been gambling to raise income for his projects. Most people knew exactly why he was there. He was there to watch Franklin Stone with the goal of convincing the "Catfather" to return to a life of crime. Nicolas was a hard seller almost constantly sitting at the table of Franklin Stone and Paul Warren offering wine, women and wealth for the Caitian to return to Cait and his former empire.
This was often a hard sell dragging his name through the mud in front of Paul telling stories of drug, prostitutes, murder and mayhem. Franklin would often have to ask the Stone family operative to leave their table. Nicolas would tease Franklin that he could boss around even more people if he accepted a return to prominence in the family.
Franklin walked into Ishka's for a beer after his patrol. Nicolas had to know that Paul was flying patrols this afternoon. He walked up to the Caitian pilot, "How would you like to be free of me for good?"
"How? By becoming a mobster? How many times do you have to be told no.", Franklin snapped.
"There is a bounty on making the King's Fleet leadership uncomfortable. There has been a foiled attempt on the life of Monday Coren. The goal is to weaken the leadership through their close friends or relatives.", Nicolas explained.
"What does that have to do with me?", Franklin looked at Nicolas.
"Here is the deal. You kill Paul Warren, son of the Task Force Commander Captain John Warren and his only surviving son after Peter was killed by the Andorian Armada.", Nicolas looked at Franklin.
"If you do this. I will leave the colony and your debt to the Family Stone will be considered paid in full.", Nicolas explained.
"You are a killer, Fluffy, as a mobster, as a mercenary and as a pilot. This is just one more kill. The reward is better than any tribute as a mercenary or payment as a marine pilot. You would be free.", Nicolas looked at Franklin.
"I love Paul.", Franklin looked at Nicolas.
"Freedom.", Nicolas looked at Franklin.
Paul finished his patrol and returned to his quarters. He was still in his flight suit and not in a cute little dress or other such outfit that he had become famous for every since his romance with the Gorn Tanus. Paul stepped into the kitchen area of his quarters. Franklin startled the son of Captain John Warren. Paul stepped back. Franklin started to cry, "It is for my freedom."
Franklin drove the knife into the abdomen of First Lieutenant Paul Warren. He looked at his long term lover, "It is my freedom."
Franklin stood there crying as he tapped his combadge to inform Captain Leo what he had done. Franklin was immediately cuffed and placed in the brig. Captain Warren was informed of the tragedy. John was of course devastated but it is well known that the crotchety Warren did not approve of his son's lifestyle choices.
John met with Vincent to discuss a response to the incident. John was upset but he told Vincent that a response would give the Andorian actions credence. In fact, John told Vincent to release the pilot.
Vincent looked at John, "Are you sure?"
"I will not give Lanec Trmel the satisfaction of derailing our mission here.", John choked on thoughts of two sons lost to the Andorians.
"If you are certain?", Vincent looked at John.
"Sometime Franklin "Fluffy" Stone will have to face the prophets and he will have to defend his balance of being.", John frowned.
Franklin stood next to the fighter once flown by Paul Warren crying. His cat like hand rubbed on the ship. He looked at its nose cone, "I am so sorry, Paul."
Patrick came around the nose of the fighter, "It must been a horrible choice."
"The worst.", Franklin sobbed.
Patrick looked at Franklin, "You need to put it behind you. You are free."
"Maybe if you were behind me...", Patrick teased.
Franklin just sobbed. Patrick just held him as they slumped to the floor. John may not have been affected by the death of Paul Warren but Franklin sure was.
