"How did Bella get like that?", Kenzi sat next to Nicole.
"Do you want the truth?", Nicole asked.
"Is she cursed?", Kenzi asked.
"No sweetie, Bella is not cursed.", Nicole chuckled, "Unless you count being stuck with me or with us as being cursed."
Nicole tickled Kenzi on the ribs. The 14 year old foster child laughed.
"I think I want the truth.", Kenzi looked at Nicole.
"What if I told you that the Star Trek you see on television is a vision of the future and not a work of fiction.", Nicole looked at Kenzi.
"I don't really like Star Trek. It is for boys and for geeks.", Kenzi replied.
Nicole laughed. She hugged Kenzi, "That it is."
"Most of the Star Trek you have known is ended around the year 2388. The story however did not end there. There were many other stories across many other worlds.", Nicole explained.
"Bella and I lived in one of those worlds in 2396 near the Klingon Homeworld.", Nicole explained, "our world was going to be destroyed and a group of people known as Section 31 gave us an option. We could be a part of a temporal, a time travel experiment to restore the universe to 2388 and start again or we old die with our world. We chose to come here to 2016."
"But what about Bella?", Kenzi asked.
"Bella is a Tellarite. She is a pig like alien who has undergone a procedure to appear more human like.", Nicole bluntly announced.
"I just tell my friends that my second foster mom is sick and cannot be outside.", Kenzi explained her lie.
Nicole sighed. They were asking a lot of this young lady. Bella came downstairs. Kenzi looked at her, "I don't care where you came from. I am just glad you found me."
Bella hugged Kenzi. She looked at Nicole, "What is this all about?"
"The truth.", Nicole gave a half smile.
