John was in tears as he knelt down and hugged the Captain's Chair. He kissed the seat of the USS Quasar Quest as the gorgeous sovereign banked towards the colony it was sworn to protect. Admiral Vincent Viceroy and President T'tan of Vulcan had decided that the use of wormhole travel was not worth the risk of losing control of such power. The horror of the massacre of the Visionaries of Viceroy had led to the strategic appraisal that the Klingons were likely going to commit a successful genocide and gain control of the Temporal Constant and therefore gain the very serious competitive advantage.
At the decision of President T'tan, it was decided that rather than lose the wormhole network, all wormhole access would be removed by bringing the colony of Camelot into the future and into 2396. The move left only the original Romulan wormhole discovered nearly 9 years earlier by the Captain William Hunt which allows access to the Phoenix Federation and the Montgomery Fleet Protected territory in the Beta Quadrant and the Andorian Gateway which goes from Andorian to the Delta Quadrant and the territory protected by the Hatherton Fleet. Otherwise, without a temporal constant to tether to, all travel has returned to regular space.
The Klingon horde remains on the surface and remains marauding believing that they can discover a way to force the colony back into the temporal universe and still create a Klingon wormhole advantage. Rhilan Kevoth remains hellbent on genocide on the surface.
A second theorem is the discovery of an aged Crystalline structure that although untested may serve as an accelerated Dilthium replacement. Tests are being done to see if it can function as a starship fuel. So far those tests are negative but the evidence points to a future energy source.
Somehow the colony has been protected against any weapon, tricorder, replicator or anything not native to the timeline from getting to the surface. The colonists are still stuck in the realm.
John heard from Deveniss that he was to make sure that no Klingon vessels were able to get close enough to provide manpower to the horde. He must protect the realm from invasion. John was so happy to back on the helm of a starship that he was downright aggressive in his protection of Camelot.
The other vessels would soon be the same.
