Nicole had been trying to establish communications with the Queen Elizabeth. It had become her passion. While Vincent, Belvedere and the others fought in the quigmire at Jersey, Nicole was trying to find out if the Queen was still alive and well.
She tried everything. She called everyone. Nicole then got a bizarre and cryptic message from Commander T'Ros. The Romulan requested an audience with the Vice Admiral at Vorta'Rome. Nicole did not know what it could mean.
T'Ros spoke very highly of Admiral William Hunt, his brother Alexander and negotiations with the Romulans. Commander T'Ros also spoke very highly of a diplomat named Commander Dala who had hosted a luncheon for Hunt and Alexander.
Nicole was impressed but had no clue what this all meant. T'Ros looked at Nicole, "It appears that your Admiral Hunt would like the Romulans and Phoenix Federation to be closer."
"I have work to do, Commander.", Nicole interrupted.
"I love children, Nicole.", T'Ros shocked Nicole by using her first name.
"My heart broke when your baby was killed.", T'Ros showed remarkable compassion for a Romulan.
Nicole looked at her, "I think I can help you."
"We have a lot of equipment not in use. Moving from the Omega source has left me virtually powerless in the Romulan Empire and on the colony but we have a lot of equipment. When we heard about the war, we activated some of our monitoring equipment.", T'Ros explained.
"I don't know what you are saying.", Nicole asked, feeling a little dumb.
T'Ros grabbed her by the wrist and drug her over to the monitor, "Someone would like to say hi."
"Magic!!", Nicole exclaimed.
"Nikki.", Magenta responded.
The girls both started to tear up. T'Ros sucked her bottom lip. The Romulan did not want anyone to see her joy in getting the girls together. Magenta explained that they were not yet ready to invade but it would not be too long. The Queen is shaking into place nicely. Magenta praised the Caitian Cinnamon Leo so much. She called her "genius" even.
Nicole smiled, "I would not expect anything less from an Omega grad."
"I have to go to work. I love you, Nikki.", Magenta smiled.
Nicole had never heard her say it before. She was overjoyed, "I love you too, Magic."
Nicole turned to T'Ros and hugged the Romulan so tightly. T'Ros hugged her back, rubbing her back. There was just something about Nicole. She was incompetent. She was the art student, but her emotions and her joy made people want to help her.
If you would have said a year ago that she would be hugging the Romulan for a great act of giveness, no one and I mean no one would have believed you.
"What can I do for you in return?", Nicole asked.
"Can I come into Omega Prime and see Brenna.", T'Ros looked positively mothering.
"Absolutely. Would you also be interested in speaking about Romulan politics and structure to the students? If Hunt is going to make us allies, the Omega Academy must produce knowledgeable students.", Nicole smiled.
"I would be honored.", the Romulan responded.
Nicole hugged her again. T'Ros was a bit uncomfortable.
"I will provide the frequency modulations so you can contact the Queen Elizabeth II from the Federation Complex.", T'Ros explained.
Nicole rubbed her red nose and red eyes, "Thank you."
