Magenta stood on the new Jupiter Station. The Star Fleet Corps. of Engineers did a remarkable job and even better, the Jarada, the Insects of the Beta Quadrant did a remarkable job of assembling her. Magenta, a true lover of space should have been overjoyed but as she looked at the lights of the Colony, she thought of only one person, Nicole.
Nicole was horribly distraught over an incident that really had no meaning. She was trying to embarrass Christine T'Nley and she had the whole event blow up in her face. She looked up at the station.
"Are you wishing on a star, Mommy.", Brenna asked.
"Not a star, Brenna, a station and a sky filled with magic.", Nicole started to cry.
Brenna did not understand the reference but put her arm around her mother.
Nicole struggled through another day of work. She nearly in tears when she came home. She helped Brenna with her homework. She was writing a paper on Ambassador Spock. Brenna looked at Nicole, "There used to be great Vulcans?"
"Mr. Spock is the measuring stick for all Vulcans, perhaps for all officers in Star Fleet.", Nicole spoke with sheer reverance.
Brenna was impressed.
A knock came on the door. Nicole walked over.
Magenta was just standing there. She looked at Nicole. There had been FAR too many of these references in their relationship. On again - off again does not even begin to describe it.
Nicole looked at Magenta, "Why did you come back?"
Magenta looked back, "You're only human."
