The Marine contingent consisting of Ferdinand Fidelis, Belvedere Brown and 2 grunts joined Eugenio Coren in the bowels of Rome. Brown turned the corner. The Vidiians had the 4 captives tied up and the fire fight began almost instantly. Brown looked at Eugenio, "Good find, Rear Admiral. We are engaged now."
"Thank you, Colonel and I will thank you to refer to me as Governor.", Eugenio boasted. Eugenio no sooner got the words out when he felt the brunt of a phaser rifle in his neck. He turned around to see the Vidiian Officer eyeing up his body. The Vidiians shoved Governor Coren towards the captives. The Vidiians looked at Coren, "You will do fine. The Betazoid organ structure will fit nicely. We have cultivated ourselves a nice crop here. The Romulan organ pattern is somewhat different but functional in the replacement of organs surrounding the phage. Soon we will have both goals. The failure of the Phoenix Colony to be able to defend itself. These covert missions are failure after failure. You would think you would learn."
Lyse Erson walked into the room. She pulled a phaser and shot the two Antican soldiers. Bell ran over to his men and knelt down to check their vitals.
"Antican organs are not compatible. Your use is limited to a negotiation tool.", Erson barked.
Brown stood up. Erson turned to Major General Fidelis. In a shocking development, she shot the Antican Freedom Fighter. Ferdinand is a former Military Commander In Chief of the Phoenix Colony and head of Security on Governor's Station. Now he lay in a heap in the corner of the basement of Rome. Brown stepped towards the Vidiian. Erson looked at Brown, "Easy there, Colonel. Antican organs are not compatible. Did you not understand the statement."
"Your attempts to belittle us, to underestimate us, to devalue our invasion force are your undoing. You have no idea what you are dealing with. We are the Vidiian Sodality. We have crossed an entire quadrant for the Omega Sands Dilithium Reserves. You have no idea of the sacrifices that we went through to build a false trust with the Romulans to set up this back up plan. You have no idea the sacrifices that I have made to create the pilgrimmage for the human organ source. The legacy of Admiral Janeway will be that members of her illustrious Star Fleet will be used to keep us alive, to battle the phage.", Erson boasted.
"This time, no one will come for you. This time, the Phoenix Federation will negotiate and now the terms have returned to their original requirement. The Pilgrims will stay. Any humanoid will stay. The leadership will leave and this will become a Vidiian Organ Farm. You will be used to provide organs for our ongoing battle with the phage.", Erson smiled.
"You should be proud. You have discovered a virtually endless Dilithium Source. The humanoid reproductive patterns are such that your offspring will come often enough to provide a virtually endless organ source. The Phoenix Colony will become the Vidiian Pharm.", Erson spoke with such conviction.
T'Ros stood up, "I would rather join the Anticans laying there on the floor than bow down to you."
Erson shot the Romulan, "Prepare a surgical room. I will use her organs first."
T'Ros lay on the ground dying. She was once the most proud of commander. She led the Romulan contingent on the planet. She commanded the Romulan Forces as they rose up and took over the colony. Now she lay dying, about to become a harvest, a bounty for the Vidiians.
T'tan rushed over to her Romulan counterpart, "She is dying. We have to help her."
"We will help ourselves to her organs.", Erson mocked.
T'tan could not understand her feelings of support for the Romulan. She hated her. Yet she found deep sympathy for the dying Romulan.
Erson turned to her Operations Officer, "Contact Commodore Viceroy. Inform him that his latest incursion has failed. Inform him of the conditions of their withdrawal from the colony."
"I would belay that order.", a voice spoke softly as a shadow appeared around the corner.
Erson turned around. Commodore Tan walked around the corner with a large contingent of Romulans, of Vulcans and even of Star Fleet and Phoenix Fleet Officers.
"Impossible. We thought of everything. We planned for every eventuality. We knew that the Phoenix Federation would react badly towards the Romulans. We knew the Romulans would be standoffish. We knew we could kidnap their leader. Cut off the head, and the Romulans will fall into line. We knew that Viceroy and Branson would try to dupe us with Vulcans. We are not idiots. We knew it all. We knew that Branson would go to Coren. T'Ros gave him up.", Erson glared at the dying Romulan.
"How the hell did you find us?", Erson screamed at the Hierarchy Clanner.
"When Brenna was abducted, she had been raised in a Phoenix Federation Family. She remembered every corner, every image. She had been taught well. She also remembered every person, including a small Romulan child named T'Maye who showed her the underbelly of this city. Montgomery heard that her grandparents had tried to rescue T'Zohl and her counterparts. She knew that her mothers would never let her help. She also knew that anyone in the Phoenix Colony command would inform Commodore Viceroy so she called me. She told me everything.", Tan responded.
"Behold, the infiltrators who brought down the Vidiian Romulan Posturing game. Behold Brenna Montgomery and T'Maye of Rome.", Tan boasted as care was provided to T'Ros immediately.
The officer gathered the Vidiian operatives. It was finally over. The Vidiians had engaged the Phoenix Colony in two missions, one overt - a failure and now one covert - a second failure. This time, it was over... for certain.
