Nicole should have known that there would be a problem down the road when she made a flirtatious pass at Wendy Smith at the Academy. Nicole still was stunned to learn that the sometimes girlfriend of Commander Acrylos Teero had been spending time with her girlfriend Dr. Velta Varno.
When Anora called Nicole to inform her that the Velta and Wendy had been seen in Boston and had been known to enjoy more than just friendship and discussions of the archeological dig, Nicole was deeply hurt.
Nicole was crying when she called Acrylos to tell him, "Ace, I have something to tell you."
Nicole, in tears, told Acrylos about Wendy and Velta. Acrylos was an engineer and a realist. He responded in a traditional stoic response. He informed Nicole that no woman was worth his emotions.
Nicole wished she had a similar strength. She was a basket case. Acrylos promised to come over after going to the arboritium.
About 1 hour later, the Chief Engineer arrived to find Nicole slumped on the floor in tears. Acrylos brought wine and the pair got totally wasted. It was exactly what Nicole needed.
She was passed out on the floor when Acrylos left. She rolled over in the morning to find Dr. Varno packing her things. She turned to Nicole, "Nikki, I never intended for Anora to let you find out like this. We never meant for it to happen."
Nicole's head was so big. At this point, her biggest concern was the amount of light that Velta was letting in as she opened the curtains to finish packing.
Nicole got up and stood in the sonic shower for literally hours. She went out to BLACK to get a coffee.
She sat there slumped over her coffee. Her heart was broken. Her world was not so Velvet anymore.
