Vincent had in the beginning tried to hide his relationship with Bobbi-Lee Kennedy. It would have been unprofessional for the aging Admiral to be seen with the socialite but he and Bobbi-Lee have gradually become one of the most visible Omega Prime couples. Bobbi-Lee had become a huge success with Bobbi-Lee Ale, Coffee and Kanar, BLACK. She had the most prominent coffee shop in the region and even had ships traveling overhead stop just to see it.
Vincent and Bobbi-Lee invited Nicole for supper. They knew she was suffering over her recent breakup. They wanted her to get back to work and to stop mopping around.
The colony had much work to do with the construction of New Netherlands beginning. The third attempt to secure a station above the colony was a priority and the colony could not have its governor moping around and crying at the drop of a hat.
The one thing that Nicole was good at was the paper work. She had grown up in the Civil Service and she was the "Radar O'Reilly" of paper work. She could get anything from anywhere. With Admiral Veltkamp agreeing to assume command of New Netherlands, she also had to arrange for someone to assume the mayoralty of the Village. Bobbi-Lee and Vincent even got her laughing as they joked about paper work and getting the station up and running.
It was the first time Nicole had laughed since she learned that the girls were enjoying each others company in tents at the Outpost 294 dig. It felt good for everyone.
Soon another guest arrived, Sgt. Robert E. Leo and Mary-Lou Cole. Mary-Lou was his landlord but obviously the pair had become better than just that. Mary-Lou and Bobbi-Lee were close and hugged and kissed on the cheek as the couple arrived. Nicole was a bit jealous. She had not felt the warmth of another female in a week.
The couples were soon talking. Nicole felt like a third wheel and stood up and went to the washroom. She was shocked when Dr. Greene and her new colleague, Dr. Orchid Coren came in to wash up before enjoying a coffee of their own.
She stepped out of the washroom, "Skye."
Dr. Greene nodded, "Nikki."
Dr. Coren also nodded. Nicole was so disappointed the Skye was so distant. She walked back over to the table and sipped her coffee in silence...
Alone.
Vincent kissed Bobbi-Lee and informed her that he was going to teach the Romulan Black Hole Physics class. She leaned in, hugging her May-December romantic partner.
Sgt. Leo left with Commodore Viceroy leaving the three girls. Nicole was still moping when Mary-Lou giggled, "Nikki, we got to get you laid!!"
The table erupted in laughter.
