I would never betray you, Nikki.", Lavender looked at Nicole.
"I saw you. You held me while I was tied up. I saw you.", Nicole cried out.
Lavender looked at Nicole, "What you saw is a clever Klingon fake."
"Not Klingon.", Commodore Elizabeth Coren entered their house.
Nicole looked at Elizabeth, "You did this."
"The Federation is best served by a powerful Klingon city on the colony and not some loyalist Cardassian crap.", Elizabeth snapped.
"I love Nicole.", Lavender cried out.
"You love the idea of Nicole. You love the memories you shared with Magenta. You don't know her. She is a betrayer. She has used the Coren family to establish her name.", Elizabeth snapped.
"I love her.", Lavender grabbed her mother.
"You don't know what you are talking about Lassie!", Elizabeth shouted.
Brenna came rushing out, "Grandma."
The words seemed to bring an eerie calm to the room. Elizabeth looked at Brenna. Elizabeth looked at Nicole and Lavender.
Brenna made Elizabeth dream of Magenta, or Orchid and of a life less complicated. Elizabeth looked at Lavender, "Is this what you really want?"
"It is what I have always wanted.", Lavender looked at her mother.
Elizabeth looked at Brenna. All she ever really wanted was to be something more than just another Betazoid woman in Star Fleet. She would not just be Luaxana Troi. She could be something more; a grandmother.
Elizabeth thought of Eugenio who always wanted this to be the case. She has been down this road before. She has tried to be with Nicole, with Brenna and with Magenta. She failed. Could she do it with Nicole and Lavender?
Can anyone get past such an act of betrayal?
