Nicole was feverishly working to get everything in order. This may be the most critical meeting in the brief history of the Unification. Kai Vanar of Bajor had agreed to visit the colony and speak to the personnel at Sparta about the Bajoran support of the Phoenix Unification.
Vanar had had a very difficult road to the role of Kai, her nephew Vedek Vanar is a radical anti-Cardassian cleric who has had many run ins with the Federation and with the Hebetian Government of Cardassia. Vanar, because of the actions of the radical Vedek has found it very difficult to gain support from the Federation and by joining the new Unification, she would have and demand a powerful seat of office with the Unification.
Vanar arrived in regal splendour, with an incredible entourage, arriving first at the Lily Pads and brought by limosine to Sparta. Nicole and Orchid had arranged for an incredible walkway for the respected vestibule of the prophets, the source of light in the Bajoran World.
Vanar walked down the walkway. All in the city were impressed and in awe. Few in the universe get to see the very presence of the vessel of a god or prophet. Kai Vanar was endorsed by the emissary himself, Commodore Benjamin Sisko so her very presence gives power and respectability to the Phoenix Unification.
Vanar looked at Nicole, "You have done your very best to prepare a place of honor for me. I am most grateful."
"The Phoenix Unification offers a viable alternative to an unrelenting and unforgiving Federation, your worship.", Nicole bowed in honor of the arrival of the Prophet's voice.
Nicole led Kai Vanar to the conference room.
There she was greeted by Lincoln Jefferson, the Talosian Ambassador and Mayor of Tokyo. Lincoln bowed to her grace. Vanar felt a respect she had never known in the Federation. Star Fleet's main concern was where was Vedek Vanar and would she contribute to his capture. She would not.
Nicole smiled, "Nor will we report to the Federation or Star Fleet the physical location of Admiral William Hunt."
Vanar actually laughed. Nicole knew she had an opportunity here. The collective mayors gave empassioned testimonials about the safety and sanctuary of the colony, about the associative peace with the backing of a regional space power like the Romulans and business as usual approach with respect to the Federation and the mindless acts of the President Johnson, towards Admiral Hunt and now towards the non-human races. Vanar leaned back and pondered the actions and activities of these fine men and women.
She was most moved by the Vulcan, T'tan as Vulcan was having tremendous difficulty with its neutrality in light of recent actions by President Johnson and by Star Fleet at the Academy in San Francisco.
Vanar stood up, "Those who exercises governmence by means of his virtue may be compared to the star of Bajor, which keeps its place and all the stars turn towards it."
"In the Unification, I see this virtue.", Vanar placed her hand on her heart.
The room clapped and filled with a joy that can only be called "Unity."
Nicole escorted Kai Vanar from the room. Outside was Orchid and her two children. Nicole smiled, "Kai Vanar, your grace, may I present Dr. Orchid Coren."
"Charmed and most pleased to see you embrace the honor of motherhood.", Kai Vanar smiled.
"Thank you, your grace. But one of these in Nicole's, the other is mine and together they are ours.", Orchid smiled.
"But a monogender union cannot produce offspring.", Kai Vanar spoke.
"Times have changed.", Orchid bowed her head, almost ashamed of their union in light of the pious Kai in her presence.
Vanar looked at Nicole, "Blessed are the children of those who have bound their unity in matrimony."
Nicole was stunned. She had never even thought of the idea. She was flabbergasted and did not know how to respond.
Vanar turned to the ladies as she entered the hovering limosine, "Mergers of great powers occur throughout the passage of time, mergers of hearts may occur only once but their power rivals any great power in the universe, The Unification or the Federation included."
Nicole and Orchid helped with the clean up. Brenna ran around the Talosian Circle, the arrangement of seating in Sparta designed in tribute to a similar circle found in Tokyo used in the creation of their city state. The conference was so beautiful and the result even more incredible. The Bajorans were now in the Unification.
Nicole and Orchid took the girls home and put them to bed. Orchid went downstairs and took a sonic shower and was sitting on the couch as Nicole rocked little Trista to sleep. Nicole thought about the words of Kai Vanar.
She slowly walked downstairs. Orchid was sitting on the couch. Nicole looked at her, "I am as the Phoenix Unification, bound to offer you nothing more than a peaceful association built on honor, grace and stability. Dr. Orchid Coren, in the words of Kai Vanar, will you bless our children with parents bound by matrimony...."
"I would love too.", Orchid giggled....
"YES!!!!!!!!!!!"
