Left Hanging Empty
PostSubject: Left Hanging   Left Hanging EmptySun Apr 17, 2016 7:59 pm

It began as taunting at the prison as Deedee Vereen came to visit Nico Laa. The inhabitants of Camelot also soon began taunting the humanized D'Vreenak Suran. Many believed that the Romulan exile deserved his mistreatment. No one knew how deeply this bullying was affecting Deedee. This was not the normal behaviour of the King's Fleet who had invited colonists to populate the colonies from all races. For some reason, life in 201 had made them harder and less "human".

Maple Coren and Leta Felis were supposed to turn the Excursion into a more adult version of Leo's. The cop bar was going to be a better option if you just wanted finger food or just a couple of beers. Deedee needed to pay her rent so she was washing dishes at the Exquisite Excursion. It did not pay much but at least she could live in 2016. Maple and Leta got this brainwave that they could create more excitement at the Excursion if they had strippers. The ladies went to Deedee Vereen and offered her substantially more money to take her clothes off on the stripper pole. Deedee thought she could handle it but the catcalls only made it worse. Deedee was breaking down. No one saw.

The Romulan retaliation against the Klingons was swift and brutal Praetor Saehir Marrus was seen as a decisive and powerful Romulan leader but the pro Suran factions were very real in the senate and in the Tal Shiar. Saehir reached out to T'Arren Suran and asked her if she would return to 2396 as the Talon Task Force Commander and commanding officer of the Imperial Romulan Warship Eagle's Talon. When T'Arren asked about her father, D'Vreenak, Saehir told her it was too great a risk to have the former leader in the senate, her offer was for T'Arren only.

T'Arren had become sick and ill in the prison as a male. She hated her life here. She had only came to watch over D'Vreenak. She agreed to return to Romulus.

No one could understand how being a prison wench for Ba'Nico Laa or stripping in the Excursion was affecting Deedee. She was already breaking down emotionally and then when T'Arren told her father she was leaving, Deedee broke down. She was devastated.

Admiral Deveniss of Selay would find Deedee hanging in her apartment. She had taken her own life. Deveniss was devastated to see the reaction. Words like he deserved it or thank goodness echoed through the Renaissance. A colonist, and yes the inhabitants were coming to grips with the fact that Precinct 63 C was a temporal colony of the United Federation of Planets, had died. This is a failure of all of the systems in place to facilitate integration. No one saw that. Worse yet, they saw it as justice.

There had to be a fundamental change in the approach to temporal colonization. Deveniss ordered Nicole Branson to assume command of the Academy and to change its focus from just being for the police services but how to live in 2016. The old Selayan saw this as his own failure as well. He had not prepared D'Vreenak and T'Arren to live here in King's County.

Deveniss' speech to the colonists was very powerful. He chastised the group for their bullying and for their behaviour. This is not what the King's Fleet represents.

The tragic death of Deedee Vereen terrified Sera Phanell a great deal, she had finally been able to locate her father. Legate Phanell had been exile since losing the coup attempt against the Hebetian Republic and Minister Gowan Garak. He would assuredly be killed if he was discovered by a Cardassian. Sera wanted to have a relationship with her father. She had been very successful here in King's County. Her unit, the motorcycle Hive can get on scene quickly and secure the seen until appropriate resources arrive. Sera was exceptional at it. She deserved a relationship with her father. Like D'Vreenak, the exile was given two choices. He could return as a humanized male but be imprisoned or he could return as a female.

Penny Phanell arrived. Sera, Phaser, was so happy to see her. She held her so tightly. Penny held her daughter. Sera had gotten her a job washing dishes for Galileo Leo with the option to wait tables if her personality traits supported such a promotion.

Penny was also ordered to attend classes in social interaction at the Academy. She agreed. Penny was walking down the hallway. Sympathy glared at the Cardassian rebel, "Ambassador Varno remains in a coma here. He deserves better. You, on the other hand...."

The snide comment proves that the colonists have some work to do. This is who is gonna come here. If you lived in a near utopia of replicated food, clothing or other necessities, hey would you come here? If you lived in a world where property was not a thing but a right. With industrial replication, no one is homeless, hungry or ashamed. It is commonplace here. Rent is real. Food is a privilege. The stress is real.
