The King is Dead!! Empty
PostSubject: The King is Dead!!   The King is Dead!! EmptyFri May 03, 2024 10:48 am

The tiny pods constructed for those who stayed behind or migrated back to Reykja Penthe assembled by Admiral Deveniss were useful once more as the crews of the ships and the inhabitants of the cities migrated to the old base.

The Klingon bombardment had left the cooony in ruins and burning and the intense heat of the blasts had clouded the atmosphere making breathing outside difficult and the sky cloudy all the time. Stars once visible from the surface were lost in those clouds and vegetation either planted or atrial had begun to die. Water supplies, once plentiful from the melting ice in the terraforming events were now lost or becoming lost as well.

Deveniss and Tan gathered in one singular pod. The aged Selayan was just happy to see his old friend. Pods from Governor’s Station were added to the survival camp as people hunkered down fearing another brutal Klingon Attack nd the freezing cold that was about to grip the planetoid.

A new ice age now a reality.

The question remained, why had Starfleet not intervened?

Was it because of the fledgling relationship with the Klingons that they would allow a virtual genocide on Reykja Penthe? The survivors were now likely less than the detainees on the Klingon Prison Transfer.

The Klingon Expeditionary Force had blocked all communications making it impossible for King’s Fleet vessels or stations to call for help. The colonists were left to fend for themselves.

Only the NX Lexington because of its very old technology were able to broadcast their logs of the events of the attack. Captain Lincoln did receive a single phrase back, “It is done.”

Paris was livid with the order to abandon ship and come to the surface but was more congenial when the Lexington was the first ship to fall to the surface. Others would follow marring the countryside with remnants of the King’s Fleet.

Sunny Jo Warren cried as she watched the Quasar Quest burning in the distance. The ship had failed before but not like this, not with such devastation and not with seeming finality. Sulu put her arm on the shoulder of her lifelong friend…. Multiple lives in fact!!

“The King is Dead, Long Live the King.”, Sulu smiled, harkening back to times long ago. Kings died but the systems must go on. The King’sFleet must find its way back.

It has to.
