The nicknaming of celebrity couples goes back in pop culture to the 1990s and early 2000s on Earth and became a term of endearment for couples as well as an associative phrases. Some good ones included Brangelina for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or Tomkat for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
Christine has learned a lot in her service to the Phoenix Colony but the mimicking of the early 21st century papparazzi has been able to make ONN the most watched network in the region even with the well established FBN being broadcast from Starbase 234 on the fringes of the H'Atoria Corridor for the past decade. The colonists and even the Federation citizens are very curious about Commodore Vincent Viceroy and his relationship with the mutant Brooklyn Paneera or Commodore Tan, now the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and his Betazoid arm candy Summer Vasa. The more bizarre the couple, the better the interest.
Christine was actually at the Academy studying on the early 21st century pop culture when she heard Lavender Coren refer to Nicole Branson as "Collie". Christine had already known that Rear Admiral Eugenio Coren referred to his youngest daughter as "Lassie".
Christine was a student of the canine species because of her fascination with Antican culture. She immediately put two and two together. She giggled thinking of the references to Brangelina in the text on the HUD in front of her.
"They are reliable, honest and with a deep love for their home.", Christine read the text about the Collie breed. She immediately added that to her description of Lavender Coren and Nicole Branson.
The couple Lassie Collie was born in that moment. Everyone had on their lips, "What is Lassie Collie up to?"
Nicole looked watched the ONN celebrity watch as Lavender came in from the McCoy institute, "Have you seen this crap?"
"Yeah, its cute.", Lavender laughed.
"Its degrading. We are a couple of dogs.", Nicole frowned.
"You don't look like no dog.", Lavender laughed as she walked up to the replicator to get some supper.
"Nor do you. That is my point.", Nicole complained.
Lavender giggled, "Though I do like your tongue and maybe a little lapping once in a while."
Nicole looked embarrassed. Lavender was far more forward than Magenta or Orchid. Her red face only egged on the Betazoid, "Come here, Collie. Come on girl.", she mocked.
Nicole crossed her arms and glared at Christine. Their feud had been recently quiet but it was on again now. Lassie Collie indeed!!
