Captain Leo burst thru the door to the interrogation room
and seemingly from nowwhere jabbed a 3 foot sword into the middle
of the table. It quivered and hummed in front of Marcus as he looked
at it in bewilderment.
"Where the hell did you get that?" he asked.
Robert pulled up a chair across from him, taking a deep breath.
"We found it not a dozen yards from the bodies. Which by the way were
stabbed mulitple times, in additon to some nasty cuts. I hope you have an
explination for your DNA and fingerprints being on it."
Marcus leaned back. "You've seen it before you know."
Robert looked at the sword swaying in the table. "Bullshit."
"Think back.... late one night in the ally behind RICKS. My little
run in with Bret Harringer. He had attacked me with it just before you
showed up."
Robert shook his head. "I don't remember a sword."
"It was on the ground a few feet away."
"So how did it end up next to Daniel Wilkes and Mr. Jason Madison?"
"I have no idea. Last time I saw it was that night, I tossed it in the
back of my car when I took Bret home."
Roberts wiskers twitched. "The car that ended up in Red River Canyon later?"
Marcus looked up. "Yes....Someone had to have retrived it."
"Litte far fetched Marcus. That car was a pile of trash after the fire burned out."
"Has to be...."
The door to the interrogation room slid to the side and a small man in conservative
dress came rushing in, placing a hand on Marcus shoulder.
"My client will not say another word Captain Leo." A data padd shot out over the table
and Robert took it before it had the chance to become airborne. "We've posted bond, Mr. Dinn
is free to go."
Robert read down the court order. "He hasn't even been arrainged yet, and you've posted Bond?"
"I've been in close contact with the court."
Marcus stood and looked at the little man. "And you are?"
"Your attourney Mr. Dinn. Mr. Anderson sent me. My name is Alex Boston."
Robert put down the padd. "Don't leave the Colony Marcus."
"Robert, you know I didn't do this."
Robert nodded. "I can't believe it myself, but you better come up with an
air tight aliby."
Alex nodded to Marcus and they left the room. The thought of having to
depend on Jan and Flo to account for his whereabouts the evening in
question ....was just unacceptable.
