Tania had to do a lot of convincing but finally convinced Vash and Cameron to at least go down to the surface to see the demonstration of the Planetary Disruptor fired into the Northern Hemisphere of Arawath Prime.
It was beyond explanation. The horrible devastation was evident. It is often easy to do these tasks from space. Tania wanted the staff, particularly Vash and Tamryn Laree who would be responsible for these acts to see.
Vash had to cover his mouth from the stench. The terrorist problem had been irradicated but the once mighty city in the north was now nothing more than rubble.
Tamryn would make the discovery. The city, known as Arawath Van had a shelter and a fallout encassment facility. It was filled with civilians. She was mortified. Many were alive but hurt.
Cameron called the ship.
=A= Sasha, we have a problem down here. =A=
=A= Baminder, here. What is the problem? Away Team member hurt? =A=
=A= Worse, more like a 1000 injured casualties. Draft Brenda, Teena and the marine triage unit. Launch the shuttle and we will use it and the Cargo Bay as a MASH unit. =A=
=A= Aye, Sir. Baminder to Todd. Inform Zoey, she has command and report to Cargo Bay Vash Delta. Medical Draft. Triage Emergency =A=
=A= Todd here. Dammit Sasha, I am the freaking science officer remember! Not your freaking bunk mate =A=

Cameron, Tamryn and Tania coordinated the beam out. The Tanmesad is not equipped for this many people, let alone this many patients.
Mekava Dumar proposed the unthinkable. The Tanmesad marines will stay here on Arawath under Dumar and Laphe. They will do a mop up operation and then the Tanmesad can return and pick them up.
Vash contacted Dumar on the ship.
=A= Are you certain, Mekava? =A=
=A= Lt. Colonel Laphe will stay to command the forces. I will stay. I am Cardassian and I know the planet well. =A=
Mekava responded with confidence. Vash was not really prepared to put his Star Fleet Marines into the Cardassian Terrorist War on the ground. These were predominantly human male and females. They would be seen as outsiders and perhaps be seen as clearly responsible for the devastation. Vash turned to Cameron.
"Lt. Commander, you are the ranking Star Fleet Officer. These are predominantly your staff. This is your call.", Vash inquired. He had been working very hard to make Cameron feel as though this was a partnership.
"I believe we have no choice, Dal. The Marines are staying. The Shuttle T'Zohl Delta should also stay. Waiting on Impulse will slow us down as we take casualties to Omega Prime.", responded Cameron.
"Agreed.", responded Vash and arrangements were made.
The Tanmesad was soon in orbit around Omega Prime. Sasha knew that Skye was going to be furious but she made the formal announcement anyway.

Sasha and Brenda, awake for the last 20 hours in support of the evacuation and triage. An all too common theme having served during the Tanmesad crash at Lakarian City outlined the situation and the casualties.
Skye was furious. She screamed at first the two doctors and then at Cameron and Vash about this being a teaching hospital.
"What a better way to learn...", responded Vash.
Skye was none to pleased.
The Tanmesad though had done a good thing. In a week or two, upon its return from the supply run to Cardassia Prime, these people could be taken home.
Tania snarled when she heard Vash speak about taking them home, "Home to what?"

Nicole went down to the hospital to meet with the predominantly Cardassian casualties.
The Federation wants the Cardassians to take a message back that this was not an act of war or aggression but instead an act to preserve peace.
Seeing children all busted up and families torn apart by the attack by the Tanmesad only made Nicole feel sick to her stomach knowing that the Federation had not only condoned the attack, but it had encouraged it to maintain peace in the region. Nicole could not help but wonder what she had gotten herself into.
She was the Mayor and diplomatic leader of the colony but today she was as everyone else mortified by the horror. Hell, the damn Dominion War ended 10 freaking years ago. This stuff was not supposed to happen anymore.
