Nicole and Amy ran every day and every night. She was up to 26 miles already and she was running hard. The amazing photo of Commander T'Ros was a build up for running even more.
Nicole was literally burning up inside. She was 40 freaking years old. Every part of her body hurt. She however was not about to let the others win the marathon. This has become a microcasm for the very existence on the Omega Planet.
Everyone was trying to win medals for their city and for their race. Nicole ran her marathon, took a shower but could not help herself. She was in the Universiade Stadium to watch Jorel Enranet of the Omega Academy win the gold medal in the lightweight division adding an athletic medal to the most prominent couple in the games so far. His constant companion, S'Nii of Vulcan had already won two medals.
Nicole was jumping out of her seat when Enranet completed the Press. She turned to Vincent and hugged him. She turned to Amy, herself a medal winner and hugged her. This was a special night.
On Tuesday, May 26, 2386, The Marathon will end one of the shortest missions in the colony history closing the 9 days of the 397th Universiade but reminding everyone that this is a special place upholding the very ideals of every culture, the very ideals of the formation of the Federation, to the peaceful expansion of knowledge and abilities.
Nicole would be running again in the morning, no matter how it hurt.
