The discovery of the Meadow Principle on the Romulan Colony of Cheron VI, known as Camelot to the inhabitants made the colony a very dangerous place.
The horrors of the discovery that passing massive radiation through the body of a dying humanoid could enhance the enrichment of Dilithium thus increasing the power output because the source of terror in the region.
This horror was exasperated when several Klingon soldiers volunteered to be killed in order to provide enriched Dilithium for Klingon vessels. The move sent the region into terror. This was no way to exist.
Admiral Deveniss of Selay was informed of the act of terror by the Romulan Consulate. Admiral Deveniss was told that the Romulans could not allow the potential for the Klingons to gain control of the enrichment resources. Admiral Deveniss was ordered by the Romulan Consulate and the Government of Praetor Saehir Marrus of Romulus not to inform the inhabitants.
Praetor Marrus informed the Federation that any attempt by the Federation to stop the attack on Cheron VI would be considered an act of war.
On July 26, 2393, The Romulan Eagle's Talon Task Force attacked the colony of Camelot without warning bring an entire Task Force of 16 Romulan War Birds under the authority of Admiral T'Ros of Romulus. The task force destroyed Starbase 756, the occupied Klingon Station from the Klingon-Romulan Cheron Conflict. The task force leveled the capital city of Vorta Rojmab, the COAL prison and left the colony a devastated mess.
The vessels of the King's Fleet that were not caught in the cross fire were granted asylum by the Betazoid Alliance and welcomed to rendezvous at First Corinthians Station.
Vincent walked onto the Arrival Platform. He walked right up to Illyan. He punched the former head of the King's Fleet right in the jaw and shouted, "Who knew?"
Illyan slowly got to his feet, "Relax, Admiral. We have all lost here."
"Lost, Illyan. Colby was just a fu**ing child!", Vincent screamed.
"As was Magenta and T'Loridel. As was Satin. The Coren family has lost too. As was Nicole.", Illyan looked at Vincent.
"How dare you? You and your precious family tried to destroy Nicole for years. You don't get to mention her name. She has not yet been discovered. She may have survived.", Vincent started to tear up.
"You cling to that, my friend.", Illyan mocked.
"Be happy, only the Hercules and the 756 were lost. You can rebuild. I have already approved the colony charter for Medara, near Izar. You will be home again.", Illyan rubbed his jaw. Vincent could throw a punch.
"You have not answered the question. Who the hell knew?", Vincent demanded.
"I am not at liberty to answer that question. The secret had to be maintained. The Federation also paid a price for the secret. Rear Admiral Lissan Shran of Andoria was lost in the Romulan assault. The Head of Starfleet Intelligence Admiral Kenneth Wu, who was also a prominent link to Section 31 was also killed to maintain the secret of the attack. No one could know what was happening on the colony or a mass exodus may have prevent the end of the Meadow Principle. It had to be this way.", Illyan spoke so stoicly. He sounded more Vulcan than Betazoid. How could he be so cold?
General Belvedere Brown joined them on the platform exiting a rescue ship. Vincent turned around, "How bad is it?"
"The leadership of the Defence League has been decimated, Admiral. We can confirm the loss of Kandi Todd, Fatima Powers, Chryssie Todd.", General Brown's voice started to crack and to break up. He put his hand on Vincent's shoulder and stared at the floor.
This man had fought in four liberations of the Phoenix Colony. He had fought the Borg at Antican B7. He had fought with the King's Fleet in the Cardassian Civil War from Ephyra colony. He had seen the horrors of war but this one touched him.
General Belvedere Brown vomited on the floor. He wiped his dog jowls and looked at Vincent, "I can confirm the loss of Colonel Wilmington Brown, my beloved sister and Colonel Bullerton Brown."
Bell broke up once more. He vomited and fell to his knees, "My son. My son!!", he cried out.
Vincent knelt down and rested his forehead against the forehead of his lifelong friend, "And Colby too."
Bell howled like a dog at the moon. It was the most canine thing he has ever done in all the time he has been known to us.
