The work done by Commander Paul Warren during the Romulan invasion was nothing short of exemplary. The young officer, using inside knowledge from his first officer the beautiful T'Daazi, was able to score some big hits and even managed to drive away the trailing smaller vessels.
The entire fleet, the faculty at the Academy are all convinced that this young officer has a brilliant future. Paul was given two medals in a formal ceremony at the academy in the afternoon but for the crew of the Plato, it was the second celebration at the casino that was going to make the evening.
Paul was very proud in his command red when his father came over and shook his hand. He looked at his father and saluted. John asked if he could join the crew in the casino.
Paul took a deep breath, "This is an out of uniform, private crew party."
John looked so forelorn after being left out of the young people party. Paul could see his pain. He looked at his father, "Nothing that occurs at this party gets out."
John smiled believing his son and the young crew were going to light one up. There had been so little celebration in recent memory. John looked at Paul, "Damn straight."
John arrived at the gala. Loud music was playing. He grinned as the young crew was obviously embroiled in their celebration. He did not see Paul but there were no uniforms. It was difficult to see anyone.
John was surprised to see Tanus of Gorn up by the bar. He walked up to his longtime colleague. Tanus smiled as he sipped from a large beer goblet.
Paul did not see John as he rushed over to Tanus, "Tanus, I am so glad you came."
John turned around. He was stunned to see Paul dressed in a pink sundress.
Before John could speak, Paul kissed Tanus on the snout. He leaned in to whisper, "I am not wearing any underwear.'
Tanus was very unnerved with John sitting right there. John looked at the Gorn soldier. He knew about Tanus and Belvedere. It was just implied. It was never like this. John downed his beer hitting it very hard on the bar top as he went away.
Paul and T'Daazi were laughing and giggling and drinking little fruity drinks. John was still struggling to reconcile the scene. His son was just awarded an award for military excellence and he was doing this. John stood against the back wall as Paul and Arexa talked tactics with the clarity that he and Captain T'Zohl might.
John did not understand how someone so competent would behave in this manner. John could not help himself. He was very impressed with Paul and his ability. John was finally getting past the pink sundress and was seeing what he was. He really wanted to tell his son how proud he was. He thought he understood.
A young ensign informed John that Paul had went into the back by the washrooms. John built up the courage to speak to Paul. It was odd to see the man who had commanded the Quest through so many near death experiences would have to muster the courage just to talk to his son.
John came around the corner and was stunned to see Paul with his pink dressed pushed up holding onto a table and being pounded from behind by Tanus of Gorn.
"Give it to me, you big dragon!", Paul exclaimed.
John exclaimed, "Oh my god!"
Paul looked over as John turned to head away. Tanus stopped moving. Paul turned back, "Don't stop. It is his problem, not ours."
Tanus smiled and started moving again.
Paul grinned, "It is a celebration, after all."
