Courtney winning the election changed things. She understood life in 2016. She left an opening in the detective car driven by John Warren. It was at this time that Illyan Coren asked about joining the flagship as a detective. Illyan had found his ways in command of the Archangel. As a fire chief, he commanded not only temporal operatives but also humans from 2016.
John was overjoyed that a former member of the King's Fleet from its original origins around Izar in the Beta Zeta Sector was going to be working with him again. Back then, there was just the Quest and Governor's Station. It was not the fleet of vessels of today. John chuckled when Deveniss told him that he would once again be promoted to Admiralso as to create balance in the car. The Admirals would now be looked to as the primary response team for the Sheriff's Office.
Illyan had contacted Alexander about coming to 2016. Admiral Laree had always refused saying that he was worried about the Alliance. Recent successes by Admiral Antoinette Viceroy in solidifying peace in 2396 has allowed the legendary defender of the Betazoid Alliance to entertain the idea of coming to 2016. The opening as fire chief aboard the Archangel was just the enticement the Betazoid needed to give it a chance. Admiral Deveniss sweetened the pot offering the deputy chief position to Ambassador Hulanen Laree. The legendary couple could be together again.
A brutal accident would mark the first assignment for Chief Alexander Laree and also serve as a graduation party for Dr. Martin Montgomery as Admiral Tan's amazing methods served to create another doctor as Martin saved the life of a human on scene while serving as Medical Director for the Providence. Martin saved a life and gave birth to an opportunity with King's County Medical.
The opening aboard the Providence allowed Matio Kira a chance for him to save lives aboard the Providence. Matio had been aboard the Tanmesad recovering bodies. He had worked as a coroner with King's County Medical. He had dealt in death. Now given the command of the Providence and the opportunity to work with Terry Coren and Cougar Faulkner, Matio gets a chance to balance the books and save lives.
Matio was so happy at getting the command. He remembered so long ago standing up to the Cardassians on Bajor fighting for the militia. It was about saving lives. It was about saving freedom. It was about being allowed to be yourself. Matio just wanted the freedom to be who he was. He never thought he would get a chance to be a beacon for the right again.
Matio went home. He shaved. He put on a dress and a wig. He became something else. He became himself... Herself.
Matio went down and sat in the courtyard of the Renaissance. He just sat there smiling.
Thua'ra came down to the courtyard, "I just heard. I was hoping to celebrate."
Matio leaned back, lifting his legs, "So was I."
Thua'ra looked at the glistening buttocks, obviously jellied up. He knew that Matio was ready for him.
There was a celebration... After all.
