Vincent has spent the day downplaying the images taken from Tokyo and the image of the Phoenix in the capture tube. Vincent told ONN that the image is nothing more than a coincidence and an anomoly. There is no truth to the rumors of the Phoenix itself burning at the core of the planet.
Vincent had Commander T'tan, Chancellor of the Vulcan Academy at Venice give a dissertation to the students about the randomness of geo-thermal energy and the attempts by the brain to put structure to the randomness and to see something that is not there. T'tan used the example of sitting on the Jake Anderson Parkway and looking to the skies and seeing the beautiful clouds and then extracting images out of their impression.
The Vulcan explained that this is what happened at Tokyo, nothing more. Vincent smiled as most of the students were buying the lecture. The problem was Vincent was still not entirely sure.
This was a strange little place. The sightings of the USS Lexington, a 200 year old vessel flying over Boston during the occupation, the very existence of the archeological site known as Outpost 294 and now this, the Phoenix sighting.
Vincent needed to maintain a strong position. He needed to make sure this did not get out of hand. He was the Governor.
