have learned that real journalism is what makes for great journalists but tabloid journalism is what makes for great readership. The students of the Omega Academy are the same as students in 400 years ago, they love the paparazzi. The Omega News Network has done well in both categories serving up the show trial to a strong audience and also covering the exploits of our lesbian former governor Nicole Branson.
During this time, Commodore Vincent Viceroy has been beyond reproach. The Omega News Network has tried to make a story out of his relationship with the much younger Bobbi-Lee Kennedy, owner of BLACK with little or no response. The regal and dignified Viceroy is seen as without flaw in taking a trophy girlfriend in the beautiful Kennedy child.
The Omega News Network has literally four or five staff members who follow Nicole Branson to see what she is up to or to follow her associates, including Dr. Orchid Coren in the hopes of catching some sort of glimpse of what she is up to for the tabloid publications on the Network.
No one follows Commodore Viceroy. His actions are rarely news worthy but the Omega News Network followed the Governor because of the Talosian Phoenix Incident. The Governor spent the morning with Commander T'tan going over the lecture, hardly news.
The Governor sat in the student seats during the lecture. He was, after all, the academy chancellor. This too was hardly newsworthy. The staff continued to follow the Governor as he and T'tan went for supper at RICKS. The commodore much more enjoyed the quiet "lounge" style club as to the commune, often frequented by the students.
It was quite late when the pair left RICKS. The Omega News Network Staff were about to leave the pair when Commander T'tan simply said in passing to the commodore to come to her hotel room in the Village (Veltkamp Village - the Business Hub of the Colony) for a drink.
For some reason, this drew the attention of the Omega News Network reporters who followed the couple into the village.

These people are supposed to be beyond reproach, beyond sneaking off to hotels to mate with Vulcans, beyond having the Research Scientist come their house and then leave in the middle of the night.
