“I need his expertise. He has to do this.”, Vincent looked at Nicole.
“Besides you are always telling me how good you are at all this. Now you can prove it.”, Vincent smiled deviously.
Nicole was furious that Sgt. Robert E. Leo, the former Head of Security for the Omega Academy, a decade ago and the Chief of Police in too many cities on too many colonies hosted by the King’s Fleet had been chosen by Admiral Viceroy to come to The Circle to investigate the death of Ambassador Recirra.
Nicole introduced Robert, a great friend to Dr. Carnation Coren. Dr. Coren had been a close ally and Counsellor on the colony and now would serve as an aide to the Caitian in the investigation. Carnation and Robert appear to have hit it off already working on how Starfleet Intelligence was able to get to Badlands 827 undetected and then how they were able to operate outside the understanding of Section 31.
Nicole stood on the command deck of the Miranda Class USS Eagle. The old bucket of bolts was a symbol of King’s Fleet size when it was added to the King’s Fleet as a symbol of long life of a Starfleet vessel. The protocol droid C810-P0 walked in. She looked at Nicole, “Governor.”
Nicole looked at Polly, “Not now. The role of Governor has been transferred provisionally to Dr. Carnation Coren.”
Polly looked at Nicole, “What should we call you?”
“Nicole will be fine.”, Nicole smiled.
Polly smiled as only the droid can.
Caitlin walked in with R2-V407. Arvie looked at the new CO, “We are here to serve Nicole Nicole.”
Caitlin burst out laughing. Nicole looked puzzled.
Caitlin smiled, “It is convention, Nicole. Rank first and then name. He is only following the syntax of Federation Standard.”
Nicole smiled. This was going to take some getting used to.
Caitlin looked at Nicole, “General Brown has entered Lakaria City. Polly has been asked to draft the peace agreement for the Second Obsidian Order and the Castallan, Minister Elim Garak. This is the role ideally suited for a protocol droid. We need to take the Eagle to Cardassia Prime as quickly as possible because the peace is very tenuous. Your orders, Nicole?”
“Arvie, you heard the lady; to Cardassia Prime, post haste.”, Nicole smiled. She had been on the bridge of the Tanmesad many years ago as an observer and even taken command shifts but never with real authority. The Eagle was her ship.
Robert began making a lot of security recommendations to Chancellor Griararch when she finally made him Chief of Security for the colony of Camelot. He was back where he should have been. Robert was very happy and asked Dr. Coren to share a celebratory supper with him. The Betazoid agreed.
Carnation had been the trophy partner of Admiral Viceroy. She had experimented with Governor Nicole Branson. She was just trying to find her way. The investigation into the murder of Ambassador Recirra had really allowed her to sink herself into the role of Counsellor. She loved working with Robert. He was thorough but he was also fun. They even travelled to Starion Sisko to enjoy a supper with Robert”s brother Galileo Leo and his partner the Tellarite Jasmine Naar’Haaj. The ladies even shared some stories and giggles about Branson.
Carnation never met for it to happen. She really was not looking for love but working with the Caitian was so much fun. Apparently making love to the Caitian was also a lot of fun.
The colony is much safer given the security arrangements put in place by Sgt. Leo. Carnation is a lot happier. Things are settling into place.
Polly returned from the surface. Nicole was in the Captain’s Ready Room sobbing when the Droid arrived. Nicole was crying. She just had had her heart broken by the Betazoid as Carnation confessed to her sin and to her love for Robert. Polly came walking in. Polly reported the successful drawing up of the Castallan Constitution. Polly then confessed to her own relationship with Sgt. Leo.
The emotional Branson asked the Droid why she was not upset. Polly simply replied, “I am incapable of forming an emotional bond. For me, the relationships is simply over.”
Nicole sobbed, “Would you comfort me?”
“It is an unwritten policy of the King Fleet recommended practice for the command staff to engage in a relationship in order to facilitate a bond that should prolong life.”, Polly bluntly explained.
“It would be my honour to comfort you, Nicole.”, Polly leaned down to caress the CO.
Nicole was soon on her back on the floor. The Droid was extremely proficient. Nicole moaned in sheer joy. Nicole lay with her head on the chest of the Droid panting from near exhaustion.
Nicole looked at Polly, “And you feel nothing?”
“I feel satisfied that I have served.”, Polly spoke with little emotion.
Nicole walked out of her Ready Room. Caitlin was sitting in the Captain’s Chair and Arvie was on the helm. Nicole turned bright red, “Have you been here long?”
Arvie looked at the CO and then at Polly, “Long enough.”
Polly smiled, “It has been a successful day. Cardassia Prime is under the authority of the Castallan.”
Arvie smiled, “Typical. A Protocol Droid would measure success in words and not in action.”
Caitlin burst out laughing. The Section 31 Operative rarely laughed.
This was going to be just fine.
