We should have known better. Once a Romulan, always a Romulan. A brutal attack on the Romulan Tansport moving D'Vreenak Suran from the Neutral Zone into Romulan territory. The Klingons have struck a serious blow to the Romulan empire sending its leadership into chaos. The chaos allowed the Marrus family to make their play. The Tal Shiar contacted Saehir in Brooklyn 2016 and invited her to lead the Romulan Star Empire.
Saehir was supposed to be in love with Deveniss but it turns out she loves being a Romulan more. She abandoned the refugees and her post as Social Interactions Instructor at the Academy but more than that, she abandoned Deveniss with batting an eye. The truth is the desertion was worse than the stabbing.
D'Vreenak had a few friends left and they managed to get him slipped into 2016. The original plan was to have D'Vreenak imprisoned in the temporal prison. He was to be held there until the Tal Shiar could plan their next move to get the fascist Romulan back in charge. D'Vreenak's daughter T'Arren took his place undergoing gender reassignment in the humanization process. Taron Vereen joined Ba'Nico Laa in the prison in King's County. Deedee Vereen became an inhabitant of the Renaissance. Deedee would almost immediately planning how he, or maybe she would return to power.
Deveniss was devastated by the abandonment. He could not believe Saehir would just leave him after he took her back after she stabbed him. He thought she loved him.
The chaos that has resulted from the now full on Romulan Klingon War has helped stabilize the Federation and in fact, helped make it more normal. There was less need for two tactical advisors. Vincent and Illyan could handle things. Monica had learned about Deveniss' broken heart. She knew his pain because she once caused his pain.
Deveniss opened the door to see Monica Montgomery standing there wearing only panties and a military jacket. She smiled, "I heard you could use a bit of cheering up."
Deveniss frowned, "Why? So can you leave me too."
"Vincent and Illyan abandoned me. I got nothing and I know how you feel. I am left with nothing. I came to see you.", Monica looked at Deveniss.
Deveniss looked at Monica, "If you hurt me, I will kill you this time!"
