Jo Jo came to see Vincent. She was very distraught. She looked at Vincent, "She tried to kiss me."
"Who?", Vincent responded noticing her demeanor.
"Captain S'Nii.", Jo Jo responded.
"I like boys. No, I like a boy. Harper Todd.", Jo Jo responded.
"She once dated Velta Varno and made a play for Vice Admiral Branson.", Vincent explained.
"I thought you were going to do anything to get promoted.", Vincent glared at Jo Jo throwing her own comment in her face.
"I think that you need to talk to someone. And that is not me.", Vincent explained.
Jo Jo left. She did not want to go up to Little Lakaria to see Nicole Branson. She stood outside her suburban house for a long time. She just did not want to go inside. Finally she built up the courage and went up and knocked on the door.
Nicole opened it. She had obviously been crying, "What the hell do you want? Haven't you done enough?"
Jo Jo started to cry. She was young. She looked at Nicole, "I wanted to get promoted. I wanted to be like you."
The words pierced Nicole's heart like sharp scarab. The truth can be very painful.
"Captain S'Nii promised me 'Chief of Operations' on the USS Wrath of Prometheus if I took you down. She encouraged me to flirt with Magenta Coren. She encouraged me to take her home for a one night stand. It would break you two up and would take you out as a threat to Governor Skye Greene. The Governor and Captain S'Nii are in this together. They are here to maintain power at any cost.", Jo Jo wimpered as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Nicole took her hand. She looked back into the house, "Computer, activate holographic babysitter."
A beautiful teenage girl appeared. She immediately set to play with little Brenna. Nicole knew that Brenna would be safe. She literally drug Jo Jo down to the student apartments. She banged on Magenta's door. She swung Jo Jo inside, "Tell her."
Jo Jo spilled her story to Magenta. Jo Jo cried hard as she explained being manipulated by Captain S'Nii. Nicole and Magenta knew this all too well. The girls shared a group hug and then shared an evening of tears. This became a large slumber party. Nicole and Magenta told Jo Jo about their love and their relationship. Jo Jo spilled her soul over her life long love story with Harper Todd and of her desire to have a real role in Star Fleet.
In the morning, the girls went to see Vincent, "You need to help us set this right."
Vincent was overjoyed to see Magenta and Nicole together. He always wanted the best for Nicole. No one quite understood why people have a strong passion for keeping her whole. Vincent looked at the girls, "I may have a viable option."
"Captain John Warren is returning to the Phoenix Colony. Captain Warren was strongly recruiting because of his efforts in the restoration of Wells City including the building of the Warren Platform and literally saving the retirement city from extinction. Warren is being asked to serve as Phoenix Federation Liaison to the Tamarian Omega Project at Tokyo as the Tamarian begin to process Omega Sands. Warren was recruited because of his strong leadership skills. We are pleased and grateful to have him. This creates two wonderful possibilities.", Vincent explained.
"Number one: Captain Warren is an experienced commanding officer and would best serve as Commanding Officer of the USS Wrath of Prometheus. I am not prepared to remove Captain S'Nii from the ship. She will remain the Executive Officer. In spite of her devious Vulcan nature, she did save the Lexington and she did get the Prometheus off the ground. John can then also serve as a teaching instructor for the Omega Academy on the ship.", Vincent smiled.
The girls all smiled too. They could not wait to see the look on Captain S'Nii's face. Jo Jo hugged her Uncle.
"I am not finished yet. The return of Captain Warren was made possible because the USS Yang Liwei is being removed from service. The USS Providence will take over patrol of the Zaranite Territories. The ship will be staffed from Omega Academy graduates. I am very pleased to announce that Student President Harper Todd will assume the role of Chief Engineer on the Providence.", Vincent continued.
"My Harper", Jo Jo gasped.
"Yes. I am also pleased to announce that thanks to his word, the Providence has a new Chief of Operations... Lt. (Junior Grade) Jo Jo Viceroy.", Vincent smiled, ever so proud of Jo Jo.
"Me.", Jo Jo gasped once more.
"It is what you wanted.", Nicole smiled, hugging her.
"And you got it because Harper requested you and not because of hurting those around you or selling your soul.", Vincent reminded Jo Jo.
Jo Jo turned to leave, "I have to tell Captain S'Nii."
Jo Jo headed straight for the Lily Pads. She could see the amazing Wrath of Prometheus hovering in Covington Cove. The ship looked incredible. She was so pleased to see it.
Captain S'Nii was making busy work in the court yard when Jo Jo walked up.
S'Nii looked at her, "Perfect. Magenta Coren is living in Student Housing and Nicole Branson is balling her eyes out. You have done well."
Jo Jo handed S'Nii a PADD with the reassignment of Captain John Warren to commanding officer of the USS Wrath of Prometheus. All the color drained from the green tinged skin of the Vulcan, "What the hell?"
"It appears, Captain S'Nii that you best not mess with the leadership of the colony. The civilian Governor may be in your hip pocket but the Phoenix Federation representatives are firmly in control of defence of the colony. NOT YOU!!", Jo Jo snapped.
"Who the hell do you think you are, Student?", S'Nii mocked.
"Lieutenant Junior Grade Jo Jo Viceroy, Chief of Operations, USS Providence, Zaranite Operations, Phoenix Federation.", Jo Jo grinned.
"Under whose authority?", S'Nii scoffed.
"Mine.", Nicole and Magenta walked out together and put their arm on Jo Jo.
The Vulcan turned away in disgust.
Nicole looked at S'Nii, "Don't mess with us again."
The Vulcan stopped dead in her tracks and turned around, "Listen Star Fleet Barbie, Flower Child and Spoiled Brat, You don't get to decide, I do!"
