Lieutenant General Belvedere Brown looked at the brass on his collar. He had been all of these ranks but the truth is he felt most comfortable as Colonel Belvedere Brown. He had just come out of a difficult meeting with Admiral John Warren regarding his role and rank now that Fleet command had been moved once again away from the marines. Bell did not like the meeting. He felt circumcised by Warren and his space navy.
Bell was feeling impotent and disempowered when he went to Vorta'Rome to see Christine. He told her about the meeting.
Christine snapped, "Warren is one to talk. He has had his rank stripped many times."
Bell told Christine how he felt. Christine reminded him that he had three times liberated the Phoenix Colony. He had fought for and allowed the Hebetian Government of Cardassia to survive the rebirth of the Cardassian Union in the civil war with forces loyal to Legate Anwar. She reminded him of his work on the asteroids of the Cheron System in keeping the neutral zone free.
Christine slowly lowered her gown, "You are far from impotent in my mind. You will always be my big bad wolf!!"
Bell grabbed his beauty. He really needed this.
