Praetor T'Ros, they knew. They had known her since reaching out to the Romulans in the Phoenix Colony and the building of Vorta'Rome. She was tough but she was honourable. She was powerful, but she was fair.
The problems began when she was removed as the regional Romulan Praetor and replaced with former Tal Shiar Admiral D'Terah Suran. Suddenly, the Romulans are an active superpower again. The announcement and subsequent build up and repositioning of the Romulan Task Forces have placed everyone on edge. If the Romulans go into expansion mode with a disfunctional Klingon Empire and a fractured Federation, the peace, however tenuous everyone has known since the fall of the Empire of V'Ros will be lost!
The movement caused Admiral Laree to reach out to Starfleet but the Federation's military and exploratory arm remains untrusting of the Betazoid Alliance because of the failure to disband after the fall of the Vulcan Empire. Laree needed to make a grand gesture so he reached out to the King's Fleet and Admiral Vincent Viceroy. In a shocking over, he offered command of the Betazoid Alliance and command of First Corinthians Station in exchange for a deal with Field Marshal Brown and Starfleet.
The offer sent shock waves into the King's Fleet as Deveniss and Tan jockeyed for control of the Fleet. Vincent wanted to make sure their rivalry did not hurt the fleet so he selected Academy Chancellor Nicole Branson as his replacement. Deveniss and Tan are not pleased with the selection of the former civil servant as head of the now critically important regional Fleet.
Viceroy also reached out to the Tellarites in an effort to get them to return to Darona. He even removed Governor Maple Coren and Mayor Whisper Coren from Darona and London, Darona respectively in order to build a parameter that would allow the King's Fleet, the Betazoid Alliance and the Tellarite Fleet to position themselves for the should Romulan Task Force Commander T'Ros of Romulus makes any movement into the region.
Governor Azalia Azoone, very influential back home with the death of her husband General Francesco Azoone, will now assume control of the civilian government of Darona. Other powerful Tellarite females have accepted positions with the King's Fleet to ensure Tellarite Support of the Defence Parameter.
Tensions remain very, very high in the region. The King's Fleet has in the infighting over the selection of Admiral Branson. The Betazoid Alliance has tension with both Illyan and Elizabeth Coren not believing that the move to reach out to Viceroy is a good one. These moves may not be popular but they are essential. The Romulan threat is very real.
