"How does it fly?", General Smith, the Jarada ship builder from Jersey looked at the Bajoran Colonel.
"It must have similar engines to other starships.", Acrylos looked at his Jarada counterpart.
"The Klingon contingent would like to have the Dark Phoenix banned from Colony Space. We would like to exercise the air space control zone in our colony city state agreement.", General Kabarann walked into the room.
"What the hell is he doing here?", Hon'Tihl glared at Viceroy. The Klingons were still furious that Commodore Viceroy was not removed from the Phoenix Fleet over his actions on Governor's Station.
"He is an Academy Professor, in fact the Co-Chancellor. He is serving as a consultant.", Governor Vreenak entered the room.
"That ship is a menace, Romulan. It poses a danger in the hands of anyone, let alone a fringe terrorist like William Hunt.", Hon'Tihl complained.
"General, please. Hunt is hardly a terrorist.", D'Solos chuckled.
"This man led a rebellion against the established United Federation of Planets Government, the democratically elected government of the Vulcan V'Ros. This rebellion was an act of terrorism.", Hon'Tihl explained.
"President Hunt led a heroic liberation. The Phoenix Liberation War is a big part of our history.", D'Solos glared at the Klingon.
"As for Phoenix One, the President has free access to our air space.", Vreenak snapped.
"The access is supported by the Romulan Colony of Vorta'Rome and has been approved by Praetor T'Ros herself.", Vreenak explained.
"Infernal Romulans!", Hon'Tihl interrupted, "Can't be trusted."
Nicole walked in, "I will second that."
Nicole looked at D'Solos and smiled. The Romulan hybrid shook her head, "You seem happier today."
"Having the big bird in our pocket is a nice thing.", Nicole smiled looking at the Klingon provided images of Phoenix One.
General Smith looked at Branson, "How does it fly?"
"What are you asking her for? She barely figure out how to turn on her replicator.", Teero jested with Nicole.
"Hey.", she laughed.
Vincent looked at the group, "Ion engines are the primary means of propulsion found in these large ships. This is due to the fact that Ion engines are far more propellant efficient than either plasma or chemical propulsion, as it expels molecules from the engine at a much higher speed. A chemical propulsion engine has an exhaust velocity of 10,400 miles per hour while normal ion propulsion exhaust is 70,200 miles per hour or greater.
Basic principle of an Ion engine is to use an electromagnetic field to strip an atom of its electrons, accelerating and expelling the positively charged atoms from the engine exhaust port at a high velocity. Unfortunately, Ion propulsion as we know it now, lacks the thrust to provide high acceleration"
General Smith looked at Vincent, "Excellent explanation, Commodore. Now a second question, is there benefit in Omega Sands for the Phoenix One design?"
"Not without significant modifications to the engines. A traditional warp nacelle is significantly faster and would benefit from the Omega Enriched Dilithium.", Vincent explained.
"The ship is impressive but in truth, it is big and slow. If you get into its path, you are dead, but an effective swarm could defeat the Phoenix One, hence its massive fighter complement. Did you see that? Even Click would have been impressed...", Vincent chuckled, thinking about his old friend now working on Starbase 696.
"Did you see the pulse cannon?", John looked at Vincent. The Jarada general was almost like a little kid with a new toy thinking about the giant battlestar.
"A pulse cannon is an impressive weapon, General but your target cannot be moving very much. Against a station, yes. Against a starship, not so much.", Vincent was impressive in his understanding.
"What does this all mean?", General Smith asked the group.
"It means Hunt is a lunatic and now he is a lunatic with a big gun!", Honey interrupted.
Nicole burst out laughing, almost spilling her coffee. Honey did not look amuzed.
"There is one thing it means.", D'Solos looked at the assemblage, "The Phoenix Federation recognizes the tribal membership of the Primatos as citizens. The next hunter who scores a kill will be charged with murder!"
"Except if it is killed by a Togre.", Commander T'tan walked into the room.
"How so?", Vreenak looked at the Judge Advocate General.
"Under the Togre Treaty, we are not allowed to interfere in the tribal politics. This means that ancient war with the Primatos cannot be interfered with.", T'tan held up a PADD with the original Federation-Togre Agreement.
Vreenak looked at the Vulcan, "You cannot allow the Togre to continue the genocide of the Primatos."
"What must be done, will be done.", the Vulcan's logical stoicism was nothing more than vieled sarcasm.
"If a few Klingons, Vulcans or even Romulans are along for the hunt, they are only serving as consultants.", T'tan snapped.
D'Solos looked at the Vulcan Commander, "You disgust me. The Primatos are people too."
T'tan looked at D'Solos, "Tokken is my true love. I would support him in all situations."
"Including genocide!", D'Solos glared back.
"Easy.", Nicole stepped forward.
"This is not over, Commander. You have lost your focus and maybe your job.", Vreenak growled.
T'tan looked at D'Solos, "The Togre were here first, Governor. Maybe you all should leave if you don't like their politics."
